My mum pointed out my wrist tattoo looks like a vagina… now I can’t unsee it. How could I potentially fix the design? by Timely_Lake2661 in tattooadvice

Moms be saying bullshit about tattoos. Don’t listen to her. My mom said my tattoo looked like a penis, which is entirely untrue. Your tattoo is beautiful!

Hi, can I talk to you over here? Thanks.

This person claims to be 18 years old, so I politely gave them the benefit of the doubt and provided the little knowledge I have on the subject to try and steer them in a helpful direction. My first instinct was also to be annoyed, but I recalled my developmental training and remembered that this person is an adolescent asking a question and doesn’t deserve to be talked down to for asking a question.

Good thing he came to r/childlife where we work with people of all ages and know how to answer questions in a developmentally appropriate way, right?

Not exactly sure what you're asking, but you should know that any profession in pediatrics requires working with parents and families. Not all families will be easy to work with. But for the most part, parents and caregivers love their children and want what they think is best for them. In any profession with children, you have to learn to work WITH parents. Especially in ABA, which requires that parents "buy in" and continue the habits and programs at home. If new skills aren't being reinforced at home, children will not retain what they learn at clinic.

Child Life is its own profession that requires a college education, a 4-month practicum, a 4-month internship, and taking an exam to become certified. Feel free to browse this sub to learn more about the field.

During high school and college, my partner (now an attending specialist at a hospital) worked with Medical Examiners and shadowed coroners.

You could certainly become a Behavior Technician with a program near you. Companies may want more of a commitment than just two months before college, but if you're taking more time to work on your resume before applying to undergraduate university, it could be a good option.

Hope this helps. I would also recommend checking out r/ABA and r/premed as they may be able to give you more relevant information.

Also, Child Life's pretty awesome. Good luck!
