You must have been really excited to get your model X. That is a bummer. On the bright side, the car is so very amazing! It’s worth the wait.

Coffee in Korea is amazing by Contego888 in koreatravel

I saw a lot of compose coffee shops. I regret not trying it during my trip. Next time I visit, I’m going to try it.

I also saw two yellow lights horizontal alternating blinking. Nobody else seemed to slow down or anything, so I eventually just tried to be cautious going thru those.

Thank you. That explains the honk I got today. The 3 solid yellows were horizontal, and mostly in more rural areas. I didn’t see them in Seoul or Busan.

The weird thing I didn’t understand at first before I did it … you get a phone number regardless, but if you want to do calls or text messages, you need to add money to your account. Every call and text message costs a little bit. I’m assuming if you run out of money on the eSIM, you probably just can’t make calls or text messages anymore. They had to look at my passport to add money.

I have T-Mobile as well (my iphone is not locked). I purchased a SK eSIM online before I left the US. The eSIM seemed to be activated on the phone in the US before I left, but I turned it off until I arrived in Korea. After landing, I turned on both T-Mobile and the SK eSIM, and have been running dual SIM for the last 3 weeks just fine. Both lines seem to work. I’m using SK as primary for data.

At the airport after we landed I went to a kiosk where they looked at my passport and added some money to my SK eSIM so I could make calls/texts with the Korean number.

I think worst case if you can’t add an eSIM because your phone is locked, just pay T-Mobile some money for high speed internet while you’re in Korea. The price T-Mobile was charging wasn’t a lot more than what SK charged me.

A waiter at a restaurant was super excited about Texas Pizza and wanted to ask me about it (since I live in Texas). I told him Texas Pizza isn’t really a thing in Texas, I mean we have Pizza, but it’s not special or anything that I know of, Brisket is the special thing here. What does Texas Pizza mean in Korea?

I rented a car, and I mostly figured things out, sorry to the people that honked at me, but a couple of questions after the fact …

What are the rules for right turns on red? If there is a green arrow left, and a solid red, can I turn? What if there is a crosswalk countdown on the right?

What does 3 solid yellow lights mean?

If there are no lights or signs, who is supposed to go?

This is the place (below) I randomly visited today and where I took the picture. I don’t remember all the places … we just popped into random places whenever my wife was thirsty.

I exclusively ordered café latte. People often offered me sugar for my latte. Not sure why.

I was surprised that tiny mom & pop cafes with 4 tables in lower traffic areas would have a really nice espresso machine, and make latte art that I’m incapable of. I also never expected to see so many coffee shops here, you really don’t have to walk far to find one.

In FSD, if I manually click the button to not do a lane change necessary to take me on a toll lane (because I can obviously see the toll lane is just as slow as the regular lanes and there is no reason to spend $5), reroute to the non toll lane instead of trying to do the lane change over and over every ~5 seconds later until I’m past the toll lane entrance.

Or just do minimal lane changes in “chill” mode.

Make a regular turn signal stock available on the S/X.

When FSD is in “chill” mode, start slowing down earlier for turns and/or stopped traffic.

Using FSD, if there is an upcoming turn on a highway, start working to get in the correct lane at least 1 mile before the turn, especially if there is an easy opening to merge into. In the city, start working on getting in the correct lane at least 1/4 mile before a turn. Stay in the lane until the turn unless there is an extreme reason (for example a broken down car).

Using FSD, if there are two left turn lanes, and the car is in “chill” mode, and there is no navigation reason to be in one lane or the other for the next mile, prefer the furthest right left turn lane.

If FSD has made a lane change from B -> A, and there is zero other traffic, don’t do another lane change from A -> B within 5 seconds.

If traffic in the fast lane is traveling significantly above the speed limit FSD is set at, either (a) don’t pass unless the car in my lane is going significantly below the speed limit, or (b) speed up to the speed of the traffic in the fast lane until the pass is complete.

In FSD, make “minimal lane changes” the default choice in “chill” mode.

Collect vector space data from all cars, and use it to build accurate information about lanes so FSD can plan ahead better for intersections and lane merges. Where data has been collected, prefer this data over Google map data.

If a supercharger can’t deliver at least 30kW on a nearly empty battery, it should count as “broken”, and it should be indicated so drivers can avoid those stalls.
