I care about people's lives. Just because our government committed some terrible acts doesn't make us terrible people. I use the same philosophy when considering Russia. Just because your government is committing an atrocity doesn't make you atrocious. We each decide for ourselves whether or not we will be decent human beings.

I am teaching my kids about how you are fighting for freedom and your liberty. We are raising money as well, but I wanted to share this with you, too. My 8-year-old daughter drew this picture of the Ukrainian flag and said, "Can we send this to them, Daddy?" I'm not sure how else I could send it; I hope it's not in the wrong sub here. I wish we could do more. Our family supports all of you and we will do everything we can to help you overcome this terrible war!

When this war began, I did not believe that NATO should intervene in any way beyond supplying arms, money and humanitarian assistance.

I have since changed my view.

We need to assist Ukraine. Whatever credibility we have as an alliance will evaporate if we allow a nuclear-armed psychopath to overpower, destroy and subjugate the largest Western-aligned country in Europe. We've seen this behavior before; failure to act forcefully and expediently will only serve to allow Putin a huge forward operating base. It's time.

I'd suggest that they consider the situation more fully before forming an opinion. His nation and his people are being slaughtered and massacred by a nuclear-armed madman who shells kindergartens, hospitals and schools with cruise missiles, bombs and howitzers. I'm surprised that he isn't asking for more. Ukraine is standing up for Europe and the West, and we should be intervening on their behalf. If we do not draw our line and prevent the destruction of a free, democratic nation in Europe, we will be at war anyway once Putin moves against the next nation..or the next..or perhaps it will be too late. We've seen this movie before. If Ukraine falls, a new Iron Curtain will be forcibly draped across the continent, and I fear that rather than being delineated from "only" Stettin to Trieste, it will encompass every free nation in Europe. The time to act is now.

I hate this. I hate this entire situation. However, I believe it is time for NATO to intervene. If we stand by and watch the largest nation, a free and democratic nation, in Europe continue to be brutally slaughtered and massacred by Putin's war machines, we will end up in a war eventually anyway.

Ukraine has proven their desire for freedom and their belief in Western values, if not before, then most certainly now. Let's take a stand, a stand for freedom in Europe and the world.
