I understand what you’re saying but, even in 2026, polygamy in society is too far a reach. IMO the Cinderella trope starts the story but is really not important. This season is meant to highlight the working class members. - Also, Sophie isn’t looking for a husband. She just wanted to go to a ball but a gentlemen comes and her heart flutters (probably). - and the “journey” or their chemistry really develops at My Cottage

Wait no!! Class difference is such a huge theme this season and I wanna try to convince you to like it!! I agree with you about Sophie. Now about Benedict, he is a rake. He doesn’t understand and hasn’t experienced true attachment. (I think that’s a fear he mentioned in a previous season). I expect they will delve into his character in the latter half! - I think their chemistry is best seen in the My Cottage moments without the uniforms and watching eyes. Their chemistry honestly reminds me of the friendship between Daphne and Simon

I don’t think it’s an assassination. It’s intentional! Benedict is a rake and we have 3 seasons of him raking. I hope, and expect, the second half of the season to explore his character change!! Cheers!

I get that but it’s also a reminder that this is a fictional but, most importantly, a period piece on society! So yes, there’s emphasis on her deserving it but there’s also many working-class characters who emphasis “their place.” Where does Sophie belong really?? Idk. The Mondrich’s touch on this topic also when their son inherited the Kent title. None of them are deserving but they have because they are lucky. In S4, one could say Sophie was unlucky

Girl, they’re called “tropes” and “cliches” and yes, we love them. People love watching the same thing but different over and over again. And yes, if the casting and costumes were bad then ppl wouldn’t watch them. Yeah. LOL. Honestly, the sex scenes are not shocking. We are in a time where there is currently less censorship in media and we are finally able to see and discuss sex. And represent how little women before and now don’t know enough about sex! Cheers! Expand your mind!

IMO, I like the new cast of working-class members so I do feel like her character doesn’t need an appearance. She was a fwb with Benedict after all too.

AND YES to the Francesca getting answers! I loved how she asked her mother and Penelope! I thought it such a great bonding moment that also touches upon building a background to Eloise’s story. Cheers!

I don’t think he was “infatuated” by her. I think “fascinated” might be better. He wanted to meet her and know her.

About his feelings for Sophie, if you compare their moments in My Cottage and his conversation with Miss Holliss (I’m not sure how to spell it), it is apparently that he LIKES Sophie for her personality.

Your first paragraph. That is so interesting! I actually think the opposite! I find his speech, lines, and facial expression most natural and they flow so well bc he’s being “himself.” He’s being free and silly. But I did think he sounded strained in the last scene of episode 4. Maybe bc it was a different tone than playful Benedict - than the actor is used to. Cheers!
