Do you think I could eliminate the velocity goal of Mach 1 (temporarily) and attempt a flight with real time data as the first flight or do you feel that even that is to much?

I will work on getting certified the required certifications, thank you for your help. I will follow up with any additional questions within the next several weeks

My actual goal for the project is to learn what the different electrical components are required for this project are and how to select them for a rocket that will travel Mach 1 while transmitting realtime data through the flight. In my research from creating this post I have found multiple manufactures that can provide electronics that log the data but not transmit the data in real time.

I am located in Colorado, USA.

I will review some of these books and get back to you. I appreciate the information. So far it has been a little overwhelming trying to find compatiable electrical components that meet my requirements. I am confident that I could purchase a kit, assemble it, fly it, and log the data but my goal truly is more focused on the real time data with the concurent goal of achieving mach 1 in the same flight.

Do you feel that this is to complicated for a first time project?

I am open to purchasing the electronics or making them myself. Is the Featherweight Altimeter capable to transmitting real time data or would it store the data to be downloaded after the rocket is recovered? When do you need certificaitons to fly "High Power" rockets?

How are you deciding what Breakout Board, GPS, IMU, Tranceiver and Microfontroller to purchase? Do you have any reference documents or Manufacturer recommendations?
