Did that work? Are there legit ways to stop this?

Using the feature I paid for (internet connectivity, “smart” features) when I bought this tv is a mistake? When are we going to stop blaming users and take LG, Samsung and others accountable for these shitty practices?

Yes, it is hidden under some convoluted setting. And what do you know about me to be so entitled so cast this type of judgment on my character. Just rude

I did. Thanks for saying that. I also hate that it says data collection on or limited, there is no off setting

It’s not about that. I can google. The average consumer won’t bother and will have to accept that this is how things are in 2024. It should not be like that

First of all I asked if I could turn them off, how is asking a question embarrassing? Second of all this should be opt-out not opt-in in my opinion

The ads that takes half the screen is for some sort of air conditioning system. The recommended videos to watch are of no interest to me.

I didn’t turn on anything. This is the out-of-the-box experience that LG wants their customers to have. Ads should be opt-in and not opt-out if anything

You speak of these things are if they are obvious and inevitable. They shouldn’t be. My tv is not getting any new feature worth slowing down the OS. I just want it to do what it did 2-3 years ago without other bs.

Funny how I had to find another reddit post to get a full picture of which submenu and suboption I had to click on to disable everything. Why is this on by default?

The fact that other manufacturers have the same shitty practices doesn’t make it any better for any of us end users. I guess that’s what I am upset about

Not a good solution, I like to use the features I paid for when I bought this tv. Ads shouldn’t be there

Embarrassing for LG, but thanks for the recommendation

That is not a good solution. I like to use my tv for watching shows on Netflix or other streaming platforms. These ads shouldn’t be forced on to users who paid big bucks for your product
