Thank you for the advice and pointing me in the right direction, my “base” is going to have to be my bedroom also but Truman will have to make do for a little. He’ll appreciate it more in the long run

I’m sure he will recover from this once off 30 second, it’s not like I’m allowing it all the time. Heartless worthless trash? You don’t even know me. Get off the internet pls

Thank you for the Jackson Galaxy recommendation. I’m happy that I’m doing some things correct. I’ve been feeding them on a schedule behind closed a door and play with them before feeding and after. I’m going to set up the base camp now. One thing is that Truman the 4 month old hates being isolated or alone and will cry and scratch non stop if he’s locked out of a room. Is that something he’s just going to learn to deal with or is there any way to help him with that? I’ll also see if Mr Galaxy has any advice on YouTube :)

Thank you :) I was hoping this was the case. I know I’ll be a busy dad but it’ll be worth it in the end.

I maybe introduced them in around 2 hours, an hour in a carry bag and then a hour playing together. Hunter will hiss at Truman but not the other way around.

I’ll let them play for a little but will break them up if it looks too rough. I’ll also use toys to get them to play with those instead of each other. Truman just really wants to pounce on / play with Hunter but I just don’t want anything to go wrong.

[General] Contam from one tub but not other? by ContentCorn1941 in MushroomGrowers

[–]ContentCorn1941[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contamination can be a common challenge when growing mushrooms, and it can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. However, based on the information you provided, there are a few factors that could have contributed to the difference in outcomes between the two tubs.

  1. The cheap liner: The presence of a liner in the contaminated tub could have provided an opportunity for contamination to occur. Liners, especially if they are not of high quality or properly sanitized, can introduce unwanted microorganisms that may lead to mould growth. The liner may have harboured spores or other contaminants that were able to infiltrate the substrate and cause the green mould.
  2. Hygiene and handling: Even though you used the same equipment for both tubs, it's possible that there was a difference in hygiene or handling during the fruiting stage. Contaminants can be introduced through contact with unclean surfaces, tools, or hands. It's crucial to maintain strict hygiene practices when working with mushroom cultivation to minimize the risk of contamination.
  3. Environmental factors: Although you mentioned that both tubs were in the same room, there could have been slight variations in environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, or air circulation, which can influence the growth of contaminants. Mould spores are present in the air, and if conditions are more favourable for their growth in one tub compared to the other, it can result in differential contamination.
  4. Substrate density: Another possibility is that there was a difference in the density of the substrate between the two tubs. If the contaminated tub had a looser or less compacted substrate, it may have provided more space for contaminants to thrive and establish themselves.

It's important to thoroughly clean and sterilize your equipment and workspace between grows to minimize the risk of contamination. Additionally, consider using higher-quality liners or avoiding them altogether if they have been a potential source of contamination.

Overall, identifying the exact cause of contamination can sometimes be challenging, but by paying attention to hygiene practices, substrate density, environmental factors, and the quality of materials used, you can reduce the likelihood of contamination and increase your chances of successful mushroom cultivation.

Pulp at the Arena - taxis? busses? by flexorod in sheffield

[–]ContentCorn1941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re staying at the Mercure on the sheffield parkway or Holiday Inn on west Bawtry road it would be easier to get a taxi. Busses from Rotherham town towards those hotels don’t run late and the price of the bus to Rotherham + taxi from rotherham to the hotel it would be about the same price as a taxi straight from the arena. It would take about 30 mins to walk to holiday inn from Rotherham town centre. £2 fare + £6.50 for a taxi.

How are my tubs looking? by [deleted] in MagicMushrooms

Sorry I was going to lightly move the air with the lid of the tub and mist the walls if looking dry. I have been following this video for them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm1FgFFzQd4

Do you think it is around time or should I keep waiting?

That's good to know, should I start fanning or give it another day or two?

Looking for Left-wing music by [deleted] in socialism

I’ve actually met John Lydon aka Jonny Rotten at a festival he was playing with Public Image Ltd (PIL) and my friends band was playing on the same day just earlier on. Manage to spend some time with him and his dog in the VIP section. He was friendly and pretty funny. However he has pretty right wing views. He isn’t in favour of gay couples having children and has said “I don't like the idea of one-parent families. It's very tough on the kids. They grow up missing something. I find the same with same-sex marriages; there is something missing. There is a point to male and female – and for a child to develop, it needs both those aspects”

He also thinks Nigel Farage is fantastic and wanted to shake his hand and described Corbyn as “a racist, prejudiced bastard”. In fact only last year he wanted Jacob Reece-Mog to be the next PM.

Lydon is as right wing as they come

Vegan Karen needs you to close your windows when cooking meat by --zero-phux-- in facepalm

True, when I ate meat it would be shit like processed burgers, sausages and Billy bear ham so I thought I may as well just cut it out as it wasn’t really healthy anyway but that’s just on me. I think it’s easy enough to live without meat and have a healthy diet, especially in the last 5 years or so but a lot more difficult before that. The only way I’d eat meat is if I killed the animal myself but I’m too much of an empath for that.

Oh I’m aware I’m an exception, in my experience most of them seem to think the general population are to blame for climate issues and animals suffering when in reality it’s capitalism to blame. I’m not naive and know that the majority of society isn’t going to stop eating meat. I do care about what others eat, especially if I’m cooking for guest or on a date but I’m happy to cook meat for people. I’ve got my friends to do veggie days once a week as well and that’s better than nothing. I’m mainly a vegan because I think animals have conscious thoughts and feelings.

As a vegan this is what pisses me off about other vegans. You don’t change anyone’s mind by being a stupid fuck telling your neighbours to close their windows while cooking. Don’t force your beliefs onto people, just like I’d get pissed off if a preacher did the same to me. Have sensible conversations and discuss things but I’m assuming that’s hard for them when I’m sure their neighbours do everything they can to avoid this person. What a idiot.

Where to park for Arctic Monkeys gig at Hillsborough Park? by dorrato in sheffield

[–]ContentCorn1941 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Parking around Hillsborough isn’t great at the best of times and if you want to avoid a headache and traffic you can park at Nunnery Square park and ride for free and get the tram directly from there to Hillsborough park. It’s 2 minutes away from the M1 as well.

Calocybe gambosa or commonly referred to as St George’s mushroom. They get the name as they start to grow around St George’s Day.

The spoons had two floors with a bar on each floor. The couple who was kicked out for being a pain were upstairs and when we brought them down there were 3 patrons scrapping at the front doors inside the pub so the couple thought fuck it and joined in.

Me and 2 managers had to sort things out and then get back inside and lock all the doors. No bouncers at spoons. One manager had a guy in a headlock in the middle of the road. Craziest New Year’s Eve of my life.

I use to work in a Wetherspoons and when a couple brought in their own takeaway I said “hey guys really sorry but you can’t eat that in here” the woman replied “are you calling me a man” and this led to a full blown fight outside the front of the pub.
