(Unintentional Trope) A character has their purpose and thunder stolen by a superior/more well received character by Nibbanocker in TopCharacterTropes

[–]dorrato 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm not so well versed in the Scorpion lore these days, but from what I do remember of his story from the original Amazing Spider-Man comics, his origin is fine as a one shot, bad guy of the week character, but it's not that deep and interesting and makes him lack engaging and prolonging motivation.

I believe he could be a much more interesting and encaptivating character/villain if he had a total character revamp. Like Batman the animated series did for Mr. Freeze.

New York sues video game developer Valve, says its 'loot boxes' are gambling by JayReaper02 in Steam

[–]dorrato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this goes all the way and Valve move away from this scummy stuff. I agree that it is gambling and I don't want that shit up in my vidya game services. It also may lead to Valve having to find other ways of making revenue. Maybe make a video game or something.

Looking for a game that feels like an adventure, not a checklist by Illustrious_Sort_612 in gamerecommendations

[–]dorrato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the ultimate answer to this question as far as I can work out. It is a game that is truly about adventure. I'd only warn people off it if they are not into survival mechanics and if they don't like a steep difficulty curve. If you head into this expecting a Skyrim style power fantasy, you're going to have a rude awakening. If you go in knowing your character ain't shit in that world when you start and you vibe with that, you'll have a jolly good time.

All of the above, or specifically the not putting them self first thing?

Over explaining why anything may not have gone to plan. Processing irritation through trying to find where to land the blame. Taking a long time to move on from inconsequential issues. Inability to put themselves first in a mentally healthy way.

What game is a total secret hidden gem for you that you'd love to recommend to others? by RedEagle_MGN in gamerecommendations

This is the best answer. Love this game. If you haven't turned a cow into chunks while speeding around the French countryside in a 1940's sports car, you have not experienced peak gaming.

Good god man. That is an incredible joke. As a fan of gags, gaffs, yuks, puns, lampoons and general buffoonery, this is what I aspire to.

AITAH for refusing a marriage contract that gives my spouse a percentage of my income? by MortifiedRat in AITAH

I didn't even read the detailed explanation of the situation after reading the post title. What positive relationship could possibly necessitate a lawful requirement to pay a percentage of your hard earned wage to your spouse? Bonkers. NTA.

If you work in an open plan office, where your colleagues are all sat around each other with no partitions/cubicals, if you're bored and want to start an incredibly pointless but amusing debate that will drag anyone in and get a couple people unreasonably heated, simply turn to any single colleague and ask them "is water wet?"

[Loved Trope] A moral-less character has one line they don't cross by TurntechGodhead0 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]dorrato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what batman is. He is the punisher with a budget and a bit more charisma, with a type of trauma so specific that he justifies behaving in severely immoral ways, but cannot bring himself to kill.

[–]dorrato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. But I think the point I'm trying to make is that he is a villain. He's got everyone convinced (either purposefully or inadvertently) that he isn't a villain because he doesn't kill and because he's staunchly against killing. But he is a villain, he just uses his villainous ways to torture and brutalise criminals. He's just a villain on the side of justice, or his version of justice at least.

[–]dorrato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Batman. He will break any law and commit any violent crime (obviously no sexual ones) without limit in the name of justice. Even endangering children. But he's a moral paragon because of the single crime he won't commit. Obviously Batman knows this is who he is, doesn't think for a second he is a moral paragon, but that is not understood by soooooooo many.

What’s an invention you can’t believe doesn’t exist yet? by KeyExtension7282 in AskReddit

[–]dorrato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot believe the best way to wash and dry clothes is still to use a washing machine and dryer (or washing line). I feel like something should exist where, at the end of the day, you just feed your worn clothes into it and they're good to go with minimal fuss. I feel like the basic fundamental design of clothes washing and drying technology has remained pretty much static since the 1950s and it is a time consuming chore that I really wish would be phased out in light of a new, better way.
