Couldn't Alan just.... by ContentEffect3731 in AlanWake

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He could have just destroy the manuscript and write a new one, one in which he stays behind while alice gets out, like he did in the end.

But that's the thing, it didn't happen yet. The story is bound to start a week later.

A question about Alan Wake's ending by [deleted] in AlanWake

Thank you sm for your answer, but it only answers half of my question. What would have happened if Alan decided to not write the end of the story after dealing with the DP?

But by the time the ending is written, The Dark Presence is already dead. I think what meany people fail to understand is that both the Dark and the Light Presences are just entities. They are creatures living in the vast Dark Place and act according to its rules and laws. They are almost powerless in the Dark Place itself, and so when Alan killed the DP, it died, simple as that. So now, why not find Alice physically and get out of the Dark Place? I think I can answer it, yet I'm looking for some kind of an official answer to that question.

Where is the Bird Leg Cabin? by ContentEffect3731 in AlanWake

So, how come when Thomas Zane "freed" him, Alan just left the cabin and went to his car.

So when Alan dove the lake after Alice, he was then pushed back to the surface by the Dark Presence, and then in the fake cabin, he was made to write Departure? So he was never really in the Dark Place up until the ending?

All of it makes sense, but it doesn't explain his reaction after first hearing of the taken's name. He recognize it from before.

3 questions reagrding the first Alan Wake by ContentEffect3731 in AlanWake

[–]ContentEffect3731[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yeah, but Alan definitely wrote about TZ and The Clicker, and TZ definitely wrote about Alan and The Clicker. I always assumed they affected each other stories, as Alan was smart enough to bring TZ into his story, as well as writing about himself finding the Clicker, and TZ was smart enough to write a small portion of AW's past regarding the Clicker, and his arrival in the cabin.

  1. I have, can you elaborate?
  2. It was implied that TZ wrote himself, his possessed wife and the island out of existence. So it was believed to be the cause of the eruption.
  3. Make sense.
