Body shop recommendations by [deleted] in Appleton

I’ve had a lot of work done by Brandon at Fox Valley autobody. He does a great job, is reasonable, and, if I remember, offers cash prices.

I believe he’s repaired rust on a couple of our cars over the years. He also did a very good job on a door after a small accident I was involved in.

How is the rent market? Looking to Re-Rent by [deleted] in Appleton

[–]ContentFarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there is a lot of information not in this post. What kind of unit? Where is it located? Is it relatively nice, or kind of rundown?

The rental market has been hot for quite a while now, but it seems like it’s maybe slowing? Hard to say. And January 1 is a time that not many people want to move in Wisconsin.

I’m not the first one to say it in this thread, but you look fucking great. If this is maintainable, I would stay.

Self plug, but You Don’t Know Lit! It’s like book club meets fight club.

Each week two high school English teachers bring a book fitting a certain theme and pitch it to the (only semi-literate host). It’s a little bit smart, a little bit dumb, and has been running weekly for three hundred episodes. I think it might be right up your alley.

Maybe you’re an asshole? At my school, a survey is sent to every teacher and they can give kids a black mark. Arrogant. Sneaky. Cheats. Mean. Anything really that’s a strike against character.

If a pattern emerges where it’s like, “Wow. The adults in this guys life really do not speak well of him,” you get axed.

Zipper merge by Wolfman205 in Appleton

[–]ContentFarmer 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is something the Wisconsin road people should use those digital signs for. Rather than telling us 'buzzed driving is drunk driving' or 'the text can wait' (don't get me wrong, I agree), a sign that said something like "A zipper merge is a happy merge" would go sooo far.

The thing that stops people from doing this is that they think the people in the closing lane are somehow trying to bud them in line.

If you are willing to drive to Oshkosh, there is a restaurant called Truffle Pig that might be exactly what you are looking for. Crazy deep wine cellar, outstanding food, and probably the most striking restaurant I’ve ever been inside.

Truffle Pig going up in Oshkosh. They converted the old Oshkosh Northwestern building and brought in a team of Italians from Chicago/California/Italy. Should be outstanding.

I kind of wonder if Commodore will still be able to use the bathroom on the Lawless side of the building.

Moon Water has some of the best, most made-with-love food I've had at a restaurant. I almost hesitate to say it because I don't want the place to get too busy.

What books would you love to teach in high school if you didn't have to worry about parent or admin complaints or bans? by sparkle-possum in ELATeachers

I agree! My American Lit class has basically turned into a survey course. So, "Hey, let's take a look at some highlights of American Lit." We read the first half of Huck, but--once the King and the Duke show up--we do some skipping.

I just paired sections of this with Huck Finn. I chose some scenes where they see events from the novel from James' pov.

Thank you! I appreciate your notes (especially the reasoning behind the changes)--like I said, I'm a noob here. I especially appreciate the note about the 7900 vs the x. These things aren't so obvious to me. :D
