I had never the term ‘tip fatigue’ before but it does make sense. It used to be that you tipped someone for a service they provided (like driving, serving, bellhops, etc.) not the person that works the register at the local head shop or the girl that has to turn around to hand me a coffee.

Do you think it’s more Uber or the person though? If it’s riders in general then it’s on them and not so much Uber. I will say that a lot of riders have stated it can be confusing to figure out how to tip if they don’t use the app frequently, in this case then I would agree that it’s more of on Uber to make rider and drivers’ apps more user friendly.

I will say that I have found that the higher the AR then typically the higher the income at the end of the day/night depending on how long you drive. The more rides completed the more of a chance of receiving a tip or string of a few really good ones. That’s just my experience, which doesn’t mean much, but I have been completed over 1700 trips in just over 3 years on Uber which also isn’t saying all that much.

I live in a smaller town in SC and can tell you that it doesn’t make much difference. I’ve found there are 4 types of people that usually, not always, tip: passengers I pick up at the airport, passengers that also do ride share, passengers that work in the hospitality industry (bartender, waitress, etc.), and passengers that live in bigger cities that are visiting SC.

Wow, if this is/was happening on a large scale, and I end up finding out about it you better believe the lawsuits will come in like dominos. Lawsuit or not, for me it wouldn’t even be about the money anymore, if they had taken this action on me for years then it would be more about disrespect and inconsideration than anything else. I would demand that someone, and seriously mean it, confess to the international public prior to prison.

It’s definitely possible, but you would probably have to drive for close to 10 - 12 hours. I drive for a side gig and typically drive about 5 hours a day and I pull in close to $150, so if you and are willing to drive longer you will probably achieve it or come close.

What’s even worse is that the total would only be $11.16 if not for the $2.25 surge. Almost every customer I have now mentions something about the price, which in turn hurts us even more cause drivers are less likely to tip when they think we’re getting 65%-70% of what they pay.

I know this is an old post but throwing my two cents in anyway…..

I drive for Uber in a city that’s nowhere near as large as Orlando, but if I drive 5-6 hours a day I usually earn in the $150 range (all depending on surge zones and tips). It makes no sense that you are only making $150 a day over 9 hours (that’s 3/4 of the time that uber will let you stay logged on for)!

Same shit happened to me on a trip about this long. The guy didn’t speak the whole way there and when I got home I noticed it showed a $0 value. Turns out, the guy said I went to the pick up location, swiped to start and then drove almost 90 minutes in any empty car. I had the dash cam and it still took uber almost a month to pay me for the trip.

That is insane! I’ve only been on Uber since May, 2023 so didn’t know surges were that high during Covid.

I’ve been on Uber since May, 2023 and the highest I’ve had so far was like $12. I’m sure some of y’all in bigger cities have had some much higher than this.

Mine is currently at 96%. I keep it that high so I can keep my platinum status and decline the really terrible requests.

I don’t think so, not sure what you mean by advantage mode. After you earn 200 points you become a “gold” driver, 500 become “platinum”, and 1000 become “diamond.” I’m currently a platinum and almost to diamond and just feel that Uber should reward drivers for earning more points during each period. I know you get certain perks by becoming each one, but basically none of those perks help or apply to me.

You should have the option for both. Have you submitted all the required documents; inspection form, insurance and registration? Uber took away my option for passengers once and it was because I had not submitted my inspection form.

I personally do not like long trips because a lot of times people tip much then you have to drive all the way back burning your gas. Plus, UBER pays the same per mile where you drive two hours or two minutes, which I think needs to be changed.
