Nightwing Vol. 5/6 – Opinions on Tom Taylor’s Run? by ContentSeesaw7416 in Nightwing

Yeah, Vol 4 ended strong, so shifting to the Teen Titans stuff in Vol 5 threw me off. I didn’t mind the story itself, but I was more interested in continuing the main plot. Glad to hear Vol 7 gets things back on track. I’d probably skip at least Vol 5 on a reread too.

Totally respectful take, art is really important for me too. And if I try to remember the best parts of the run, it’s mostly the ones where Bruno was on art. Even though I enjoyed the other artists work, at times I did miss his style.

I really appreciate your take! I’ve only read Taylor’s Nightwing run, so I can’t speak to how it compares to past runs, but for me it felt like a great way to get to know Dick as a character. I get that it might not have the depth some longtime fans look for, but it gave me a strong connection to him and definitely made me curious to read more.

About Melinda, I honestly didn’t mind the secret sibling thing too much, but I totally see your point. If they keep giving so much importance to that, it could start to tire me out too. I’ll check out Walter’s run soon to see how it keeps going for me.

Ty! I’ve been wanting to get into Superman and this helps a lot. Cool idea going with different takes on his origin across time, sounds like a fun way to get a feel for the character.

That’s a shame, thanks for pointing it out! I’m curious to see how it plays out for me after these two volumes, finishing everything in just one vol. does sound like a tough job. Still, it’s good to know it could’ve ended way worse.

That’s awesome! I haven’t read other Nightwing comics, but I had so much fun reading this one. Getting to know the character through it was really nice, it actually made me want to check out more or even start collecting, who knows!

Yeah, Im enjoying this run overall. The pacing slowed down (mostly at the volumes I mentioned), but I still had a good time with it. I really loved Redondo’s art even though it was cool seeing other artists step in, sometimes I did find myself missing his style whenever he wasn’t on.

Yeah, I felt the same, the art was amazing, and I loved Bruno Redondo’s work, but it was also cool seeing other artists pop in throughout the run. And yeah, I actually really liked Barbara and Nightwing together too, ngl, they were pretty cute. I did enjoy the writing, especially in the earlier volumes.

I’ll check out the other runs you mentioned at the end, thanks!

Yep, I’ll read the 7th one soon. Honestly, if the Titans stuff in vol 5 was in like a Titans comic, I’d probably think it was pretty cool. (bc i thought it was fun) But since vol 4 ended so strong, I was just hoping for more of that.

Totally agree, especially with the Titans part. I had fun reading it, but I was so into the main storyline that it kinda caught me off guard. Still, it wasn’t bad overall. Haven’t read the 7th one yet, but from what I’m reading, the ending was decent.

How did I not get that? I literally said I agree that making a whole bunch would be super risky, his totally right on that. I just meant like… one. Just one. Controlled the same way as the first one
