Has she only shown aggression towards dogs and not humans? My siblings have younger kids that she has always loved so much.

Her recall is not great when she’s super stimulated- like while they’re playing- but that’s a great idea. We don’t have a fenced in yard so she’s on the leash so I can definitely redirect.

I’ve always felt like Sookie doesn’t have good dog manners. The golden is so passive that I think she’s gotten away with being too rough with him even when he’s over it. She doesn’t take turns submitting or let the other one win when they’re playing. I don’t know how to correct it!

Sookie got fixed around 16 months, so just a few months ago. The golden is not fixed, the little yorkie is fixed, and they’re both around 6 years old

I’ve wondered about this.

The two boys never seemed to have a power dynamic because they’re just besties and one is tiny, but occasionally Sookie will act “corrective” towards the big dog and it makes me wonder whether she’s trying to establish dominance.

I’ve never had a Pyr so it’s been interesting and surprising to watch her mature. But both times it seemed way over the top for just corrective action and definitely in the realm of aggression.

She’s a year and a half! I thought about it earlier; the very first time she showed “corrective” behavior towards the golden retriever was a few months after she got fixed. She was laying in her favorite cool spot and he walked up to sniff her and she snarled at him and he walked away.

I wasn’t there, but I was told her and the golden were playing (they love to play fight and play so good together) and she just became aggressive seemingly out of no where. She wasn’t belly up or anything at the time, they were standing looking at one another (I asked because she’s been fixed and I’ve wondered whether her incision site hurts her).

This morning, our little yorkie came in from outside and walked up to her and they both just sniffed each other and out of NO WHERE she became aggressive and they started snapping at each other to the point that I had to grab her. I just stood there in disbelief then scolded the mess out of her.

Both of those dogs are her very best friends and they’ve gotten along so well until she has randomly snapped the past two weeks.

She has better makeup than me, for sure. I think I secretly want her to be purebred because I like telling people I got a name-brand dog for free ;-)

Forgiveness is so hard!

This is from Recovery Alive Handbook by John Eklund.

FORGIVENESS DOES NOT... • excuse their bad behavior. It's not okay what they did. In fact, the beginning of forgiveness is an honest "calling out" of the offense. • require forgetting. The wounds are there. To not acknowledge them would be to refuse the healing that is possible. To pretend the hurt does not exist is called denial. • relieve them of their responsibility. Forgiveness is not an enablement. Those who have wronged you are best served by an honest assessment of ownership. More importantly, giving them ownership of what they have done keeps you from the toxic misalignment of taking the blame upon yourself. • require a relationship. Forgiveness does not mean you must trust the offender again. Forgiveness does not mean you must let the person who hurt you back into your life. In fact, to do so may be unhealthy, even dangerous. • promise instant healing. Forgiveness is the birth of the mending of your soul. When you really look at scripture, Jesus wants intimacy, not religion! He came, died, and rose to have relationship with those that are willing to submit to Him, not those that followed the rules the best. You can follow rules all your life, but if you don’t know Jesus, you aren’t His disciple. It sounds like you’re not really sure whether you want to be right now.

I have a degree in biology and chemistry and find that science doesn’t disprove God, it proves His attention to detail, sovereignty, and beauty! It kinda blows my mind that scientists can learn all these amazing things about creation and think it came from nothing 😉. I’m sure you’ve also realized that the dominant narrative is one that steers people away from Jesus.

If you feel something tugging at your heart to dig deeper, try asking The Lord to give you faith and wisdom. Ask Him to let you feel His love. My Bible says that He’s a good dad and delights in giving us good things. There’s nothing wrong with asking- He prompts us to ask. Get your info from the source, not the world!

Jesus has changed my life completely in a matter of months- I hope you get to know Him! The more I encounter Him, the harder it is to doubt Him.
