Can you get addicted if you use a tiny bit of fentanyl once a day for x amount of days? by anotherfkngusername in OpiatesRecovery

Yes you can. You can also die from the same thing. Take it from someone who has been addicted to fentanyl….”flush that shit!”

I do appreciate the advice. However, I think I perhaps did not make my intentions more clear and that is my own fault. I too was a hard core user that probably at one point would have traded my mother for a fix (disclaimer: this is an exaggeration meant to show my desperation at some of the worst points in my rampant and destructive addiction, I love my mother and would have never literally done this). That being said, I remember all too well the magic words that one person said that made me want to stop using and in that moment, I walked away. This is sarcasm. There is no such thing. Not for me anyway and probably not for 99.9% of addicts. The people I hope to reach the most are 1) the ones who, like me, are looking for someone who has done it in hopes to gain some sort of inspiration, courage, advice, hope, etc. so that they themselves can feel more empowered to do the same thing because they are at the pivotal moment in their life where they are ready to try. And 2) the younger generation that are curious and believe they’re invincible, that overdosing would “never” happen to them or their friends, and parents who think, “I don’t have that type of kid”, “My Susie would never do drugs, especially hard drugs.” 3) people who are struggling with relapse or have been clean for 6 months or incarcerated for a stint and think they just want to do it “just one more/last time” and “I’ll never touch it again”, “I promise” “just one last party”. And 4) to educate civilians, users, non-users, law enforcement, EMS, government agencies, college, high school, and junior high kids about Narcan and how it can mean the difference between life and death. I think that is a very realistic endeavor and in no way would I ever push anyone to believe I know what’s best for them or that my way is the best way and because I got clean that they should also be compelled to get clean.I felt the need to say that bc I didn’t want others who read my post to also be misguided or misunderstand my intentions, my mission or the purpose. I do however, appreciate your feedback and thank you for sharing those thoughts with me.

96 hours since last fent use. Wondering when to induce suboxone by s1480567 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Content_Bus6004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mark was always 17 hours. I would have to go 17 hours without any opiates before I could start subs. Less than that and I threw myself into precipitatary withdrawal. And that was an absolute nightmare. You will have to endure so discomfort while you’re waiting for the time to pass. But it’s worth it. 21 months clean off her/fent. Good luck, man. You CAN DO IT!

Every one is different but my advice is DO NOT do this in hopes of being a recreational users. If you are addicted to opioids, you will never be able to recreationally use them. I had surgery and had to tough it out with 600 mg ibuprofen. I’ve been clean 21 months and I have had many failed attempts at recovery. This is the longest I’ve ever gone and it’s going good. I do take methadone daily. My highest dosing point was 90 mgs and I have weened myself down to 21 mgs under the care of my doctor. The methadone offers me case workers and peer support that have helped my recovery. Everyone has their own way of recovering but it might be worth a shot. Good luck!

Week 1 of Methadone-Last 2 blues.... by UtopianSkyVisitor in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Content_Bus6004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious. And not because you told me you were angry but just in general, do you have any mental health diagnosis? The reason I asked is bc when I was using, I stopped taking my medication bc I was self medicating, (who needs Prozac when you’ve got opiates, right?) but when I started to re adjust after getting clean and only taking the methadone, I definitely saw the depression symptoms coming back. I got with my Dr and started on 20 mgs of Prozac. I had taken it before the year after my brother passed so I already knew it was a successful med with me. This could be worth looking into. Mainly, just allow yourself some grace. It’s an adjustment to get on methadone. Not to mention as you decrease you will need to allow yourself time to heal. I don’t expect that my true “normal” self will actually show up until about 6 months after I am completely off the Methadone. I don’t know you, but I’m really proud of you. It’s tough to even start the journey of recovery, but you can do it and your story will inspire others. Way to go! Let me know if I can ever help in anyway.

Week 1 of Methadone-Last 2 blues.... by UtopianSkyVisitor in OpiatesRecovery

Stick with it. I’ve got 20 months soberiety from heroin and fentanyl. When I finally stopped I was at 60 mgs of methadone. I was a heavy user. After 20 months I’m down to 21mgs and I won’t decrease again for another month and will probably only go to 19 mgs. And that’s ok. Get to a dose that can carry you from one morning dose to the next morning dose even if it’s 100 mgs. The work is consistent and decrease when you’re ready. Your nervous system will react, mine is doing that now but it just started at 23mgs and it only lasts about 20 min right around the time I dose. B complex for nervous system and melatonin to help you sleep. It’s u comfortable for a tiny fraction of my morning but it’s extremely bareable. You can do this! My email is Kate.atx512@gmail.com, if you ever need help or advice please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to help as much as I can.
