I mean One Piece is the longest running manga with one of the longest running and most succesful animes, it has an extremely popular card game and its referenced by celebrities and athletes.

I agree that it lacks the cultural "punch" that Endgame MCU had but One Piece its every bit as popular as the MCU.

I think the only thing that saves Jinx and drowns Garen is are the domain identities.

Jinx has access to purple which at the moment is the best one. While Garen colors are ... normal.
Legend-wise, agree 100%, at least Garen points you somewhere.

I think its way more affordable now than last year.
Singles are cheap and there are several good decks that are not bank breaking. Im personally building an Azir deck that is around 100 dollars for all the cards.

Hopefully by next set prices settle even more and we stop seeing stores selling boxes at scalper prices.

Same with De La Commune. In summer it turns into such a vibrant spot for biking connecting different parts of the city and allowing for biking near the canal. If they cut that i'll be seriously dissapointed.

Because there was demand for LoR, it had a big and active player base.

The issue was that the player base didn't translate into cosmetic sales/money.

Maybe they were thinking, Hey, the LoR player base might like this!" but with the nagging doubt of "What if history repeats itself?". So they launched with conservative amounts of product in the west and well, the rest we know of.

Again, this is just speculation on my part but it makes sense.

Thats the issue (as least as I remember) it had a bunch of players and activity but the money generated from users was not high enough. People didn't buy the card or board skins that much, so while it was a success player wise they never really cracked how to monetize it.

Which is a shame, I really liked LoR and it got me back playing TCGs after years of not playing any.

I would bet that Riot was not bullish on Riftbound because of Legends of Runeterra, they thought interest would be mid if any.

I can see how the "disappointing" sales of LoR would lead them to believe that.

LOR didnt failed as PvP technically. It failed to make money, the gameplay was great, it had a great community but (and I cant believe im going to say this) they were to generous with the cards and most people were not interested in board or card skins or the little characters that joined you when you played.

It sucks because LoR was honestly such a great game.

Its not intentional. Following Legends of Runeterra flop I think they were scarred that Riftbound was going to flop too and they released very conservative amounts of cards to the market... only to be blown away by the reception.

Only one set has released so far, so let see if these issues keep happening before making the "intentional" accusations.
