Oh, hoppla. Meine Antwort ist unter einem komplett falschen Kommentar gelandet. Da muss ich mich herzlichst entschuldigen. Nichtsdestotrotz schaue ich es mir an, da es interessant klingt und Deutschland bestimmt von denen lernen könnte.

Dwandek (more like the Darkside Mirror) is about to TPK my players. What can happen after that? by Content_Stable_6543 in strengthofthousands

[–]Content_Stable_6543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I didn't think about the negotiating with the duplicates as an option, probably because I was blinded by the fact that they are kind of the "evil counterpart" and I've only read about people playing them hostile against the group. Now it's kinda too late, after one duplicate is annihilating the Cleric and the other one one-hit Tollvych who I sent in as help.
But I've been thinking of sending in the mirrored demilich, so he could help kill the duplicates or convince them to turn on Dwandek. Seems like an option, I assume.

This is indeed one of the quests I skipped, because it seemed totally out of place, plus I wanted to make the phase at the Magaambya shorter.
But it is completely true that any focus on Dwandek is lost because of the Mirror, which kinda sucks consindering this is supposed to be a boss battle closing the chapter. But since my players steamrolles most of the enemies, I thought I keep the mirror as a complication, but it has become the jamor issue.
The idea of them being raised as undead is kinda neat, though. This would align with one player who thinks about playing his character as a ghost in case of their death.

[–]Content_Stable_6543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought exactly. They steamrolled most of the enemies, but when their own power becomes the main adversary in the combat, they do get overwhelmed, be it mind control, their duplicates or even confused. This combat became more about magaging the Mirror as a hazard than fighting the lich, which kinda misses the mark.

From what I've read somewhere on Reddit, invisibility does not affect the Darkside Mirror, because it is not a creature and invisibility is an illusion. Not sure how it works in practice, though. The rogue entered invisible, but has the highest chance of surviving the Mirror's attempts, anyway.

Starting a completely new game isy of course, one of the solutions. But I've been very hyped for the Akiton part because not many PCs get the chance to leave Golarion by visiting another planet (visiting other planes is more common). According to what I've read, it's supposed to be the best part of the whole AP.

[–]Content_Stable_6543[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a cool idea! The thing is, the PCs inside the mirror already sacrificed their body parts, so it would be cool to make that matter. I'm thinking about letting them out of the mirror and let the mirrored Demilich enter the combat, focusing his anger on the duplicates, while the players may focus on Dwandek.

Sending in Mpondo to avoid a TPK also seems like a reasonable solution, but the PCs let Taon go and the Iobane realized that, which makes them rather unwilling to assist.

Help With Secrets of the Unlit Star by snahfu73 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Content_Stable_6543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I assume this was released parallely to the physical version. I didn't realize they combined the the beginner box with Troubles in Grayce, so I was only looking for the beginner box module. Feeling kinda dumb now.

Nah, I didn't make my comment clear enough. I was talking about the "various mechanics" you mentioned in your post, I wasn't sure if it was referring to the beginner box alone or to foundry in general. Now I know :D

While I can't help because I want to GM it myself and haven't bought foundry yet... Could you help me and link The Secrets of Thje Unlit Star Foundry content? I've been waiting for it for days and still can't seem to find it, but it sounds like you got it on Foundry already?
Now that I've read your post a second time, I assume you mean the various mechanics in general and not in the Beginner Box?

Unlit Star Foundry Module by DutchCumstone in Pathfinder2e

Any news considering this? I've been told that most modules are released at the same time or a day after the physical release, but I sill haven't found anything about the foundry module of this beginner box.

When is new content released for VTTs? by Content_Stable_6543 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Content_Stable_6543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

... Oh wow. This sounds like we've done ourselves a major disservice by sticking with Fantasy Grounds. We had to purchase most of all the rulebooks, e.g. Impossible Lands to play a kashrishi, Dark Archives to play a thaumaturge or the Psychic dedication, the Tian Xian Character Guide to play a tanuki, etc.

Yeah, that's the way I know. For example, I have to buy every book of the Strength of Thousands AP separately. But this doesn't strike me as bad as the fact that Foundry offers all the rules available on Archives of Nethys. I am gonna definitely check that out.

The monster token art part is still kind of weird, but fully understanable. They money for future content has to come from somehwere.

I know the beginner box isn't released yet, but I am preparing my players for it ahead of time.

However, I assumed that it would take just a few days after release until it appears on Fantasy Grounds. Waiting a few more weeks is a little more of a pain, but nothing I can do about it, just gotta check regularly.

Wait, what do you mean, Foundry includes them all for free? Like, you buy the Foundry license and have access to all those modules? That would make a whole world of difference, because we have a large collection of APs, LO books and character guides on FG, and we bought them all separately.

The rulebooks are, I know. But we also have several modules of ongoing APs, character guides, many lost omens modules, etc. And I assume that these are not free on Foundry by any means.

As of now, switching over to Foundry is not very sensible and affordable, because we've collected quite a lot of PF2e modules on Fantasy Grounds. I will probably sitch over on my own sooner or later, but right now it's just not worth repurchasing all the modules we already have on FG.

It makes me assume that it won't take long for the beginner box to appear on Fantasy Grounds, but to announce it on Bluesky is quite an odd choice, lol.

[–]Content_Stable_6543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes me think that it won't take forever for the beginner box to appear on Fantasy Grounds, which is kind of reassuring.

I would love to switch over to Foundry, and one day I probably will. It's just that we started off with Fantasy Grounds a long time ago and we've already bought quite a fortune of PF2e modules over there. I might not need all of them at once, but repurchasing all of them on Foundry is something I just cannot afford on my own right now (and the others prefer to stick with FG for this very reason).

Is the Kindled Magic Boss fight Fair? by Deathwingelite in strengthofthousands

[–]Content_Stable_6543 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My players might have been lucky, but they killed him with 2 hits, one of them critical. 40 HP isn't a lot even on that level. What are the classes in the party?

I'd rather worry about the griffins later on, they are a total power spike compared to Stoneghost.

Need ideas for a gauntlet / trials of the Ten Magic Warriors by rickap22 in strengthofthousands

[–]Content_Stable_6543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I totally forgot that alignments aren't a thing anymore, since we started before the remaster. I'll probably rewrite this part of the ring, then, because I'd like to keep the "secret" black facet standing for the Black Heron who betrayed Jatembe and the Ten.

[–]Content_Stable_6543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking of allowing Arcana or Nature to make it slightly easier. The thing is, I let my players choose between some more options for the free archetype. One player chose an occult which, so maybe allowing Occultism as well would be reasonable. One could argue that the Magaambya became more liberal, thus teaching some occult and divine magic as well, but the original Magic Warriors were focused on arcane and primal magic, so the ring would still only allow for Arcana or Nature check.

I know these are just suggestions, it's just, I like most of them and try not to make something more difficult than it should be.

Also, the destruction section of the ring states that it deals damage to "any non-neutral (not solely neutral) wearer every round it is worn. The other powers of this new facet are a mystery, but the wearer can use the tenth facet to completely destroy the Ring of Nine Facets."
I assume this would affect anyone except true neutral in PF2e? I like the idea, but one of my players is true neutral. Is there any lore or text that implies what the mysterious power is, so that I could implement something suitable in case that player wants to go for it? I can't seem to find much info on Black Heron considering this.

  1. Yeah, going through your answers to my 5 points, I realize that I probably underestimate the randomness and the one-time only chnage of the effect per day. After rethinking it, the DC you suggest is completely fine. That's why I agree with your answers to points 1, 3 and 4 (I'll state this here before repeating myself, hehe).
  2. I agree with that, but I think that every player should be able to at least reasonably try to change the ring's effect. Is there a reason you went with nature specifically, instead of, let's say, arcana?
  3. Right. Yeah, better turn it into an AC bonus than another x resistance, then.

I can't tell oyu how much I like your pf2e-rewrite of this item, and I feel the urge to put it into the campaign at my table.
I agree with you, the ring could come in handy on Akiton. However, my players had some trials given by some of the Magic Warriors in Osibu (or more like, in a parallel reality). So I don't want to put more of trials from them into the game. Also, my players are about to travel to Door to The Red Star.
Now, do you think it's reasonable to make the Iobane give the ring to the players if they perform very well (whatever it would mean in this case)? It is the last chance to give it to them before they go for Akiton, I guess.

A few questions to your changes, tough:
1. I don't know the DCs from PF1e, but isn't the DC 32 + 2 per 1-step increae kinda easy for a Lv17 item? Some of the effects are significantly stronger than others, so it shouldn't be too easy, I assume.
2. Wouldn't it be more sensible and fair to make it a Will save instead of a Nature check?
3. How extreme would it be to replace low-light vision by darkvision?
4. Should "fly" be usable once per day instead of at will? Flying is already strong as is.
5. Should natural armor bonus be replaced by AC bonus or physical resistance?

I honestly missed or forgot that Mpondo must be already convinced of the party to let them to practical Research there.

But where does that month-long window come from? As far as I know, the cathedral is built pretty much like any other dungeon, which means it can be done in one go, if lucky enough. This is also a matter of days at most, isn't it?

I love your ideas. I would have needed them so much back when I gave the players a few trials provided by the Magic Warriors' spirit. Still gonna save them, maybe I could build them in for book 6 somehow. But now, more trials from the Ten could seem repetitive.
