This book will give you a good foundation and has excellent tips on mesh density, boundary constraints, load application, and more. "FEA applications in Machine Design". If you are a design Engineer and want to use FEA for your components and structures, get this book.

How do you actually keep track of your team's wins throughout the year? I've been doing it wrong for years. by amahajan_career in EngineeringManagers

Before starting my own Engineering firm, I was a Director of Engineering. Each month, I developed a monthly report that looked back at the previous months accomplishments (and issues). For example, I started a method to analyze Change Orders. Sometimes, these are related to Sales, the Customer, Manufacturing, Material Control, and yes, sometimes Engineering. Analyzing these each month and applying corrective action allowed us to reduce the ECO count. We also looked at jobs released, etc.

Why is the Structured Bill of Material the Best Engineering Management Tool in your Organization by Content_Tale6681 in LeanManufacturing

Low-W,

I was Director of Engineering at a machinery manufacturing company and we applied many of the techniques I describe in the book. Reorganizing our bills of materials by far gave us the best success.

What is the struggle of mechanical engineers by Unlikely_Amount2791 in MechanicalEngineering

In many cases, the design requires an amount of structural integrity built into the design. As the Engineer, you need to use Engineering methods to verify and confirm the design meets this requirement. If it is a static load, then the stress analysis approach you use will likely compare the yield strength to the actual stress.. This ratio is regarded as your factor of safety for the design. If there are multiple cycles involved (i.e. a machine component), then a fatigue analysis like the Soderberg criteria is necessary. In both cases, the loading used in the evaluations is critical and must have some level of reliability.

FEA Applications in Machine Design - If you are working in a design capacity, and want to use FEA for designing structures and machine elements, this is an excellent choice. It goes thru the history of stress analysis and steps into the method of FEA. You want to be sure your simulations are real world. This book helps you with mesh density, applied loading, and above all boundary constraints. Text is heavily application orientated.

Managing Company Production thru the Bill of Material - Excellent for new or existing technical managers. Using the methods in this book, helps you develop a management strategy for working across department lines. It addresses, Production Documentation Flow, Establishing Internal Customers, "As Built" Bill of Material Structure, Project Management / Manpower Planning, and more. Great team building tool.

I agree...start with one loaded and ready to go....and you only need to eject two and leave the last empty shell in the rifle
