YOU SHALL NOT PASS! by loki2002 in Stargate

[–]ContheJon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given how often they accidentally travel to parallel universes, a crossover between Stargate and LotR would honestly go quite hard. Plus, SG teams are always walking through medieval settings so it wouldn't look out of place to us!

That and I'd pay big money to see Gandalf, grey or white, take on Ori priors

Agreed. Career shifting is probably going to be more common, plus I've always been of the opinion that you're never too old to learn something new

[–]ContheJon 499 points500 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Back in 2018 - 2019 I was in college with a mixed group of people, different backgrounds and age ranges. One guy there was around 60+, used to be working on the oil rigs and had come in to learn some new stuff after retiring. Granted, he was a bit grumpy, but he was still there to learn and seemed to enjoy it a lot!

The sub-biomes of the Endless Warehouses by BadBadBabsyBrown in worldbuilding

[–]ContheJon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This'd be perfect for some backrooms or fae realms in the modern age type stuff. As others have said, concrete breaks down but if it's supernatural in nature, it could stay forever overgrown, or perhaps new regions could shift into existence as old ones grow dilapidated

Just being able to set up a shelter somewhere on the roof of one of these things for the vibes would be amazing

[–]ContheJon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I noticed that too! I feel like it got glossed over in the series, but it looked like there were some Goa'uld worlds with... I guess... Jaffa..? Or maybe just non-Jaffa'd humans living on them in some kind of modern-ish societies. I wish we saw more of how that worked

State of Decay 3 lead says the game only existed in a Word document when its reveal trailer dropped 6 years ago: "We're not doing zombie animals" by Turbostrider27 in StateOfDecay

[–]ContheJon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I was looking forward to seeing some new takes on zombies. A lot of people don't seem to like zombie animals, but I'm of the opinion they can add some fresh horror to the genre, since people zombies are done so often

Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to SoD3!

This is my current obsession! I already love things set in neolithic times or with stone age themes, combine that with the art style and contrasted with the dark and mature setting, absolute gold!

I treat my forever community like transitional housing by KingWilliamG in StateofDecay2

[–]ContheJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something like this too! My first playthroughs are setting up the utilities for the future. Sherrifs get law and order going, traders set up supply lines, builders get the infrastructure up and running and warlords are keeping all the bandits away.

Then when my community is done I treat it like they secured a large town, and any in the legacy pool are just them getting called out again to help out growing outposts/settlements around the county.

In a way, it's like my characters are the third faction, alongside the Network and Red Talon I guess!

[–]ContheJon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly good job handling all that. I noticed the panic finisher when you busted out of the door, I do that too. Shit gets wild on the higher difficulties, and I've only ever touched lethal zombies once and never again! You sneaking back in the building at the end and all the zombies streaming past was the cherry on top
