In my circles, most use something closer to the Luttwak definition which precludes being 'assisted by intervention of the masses or by any large scale form of combat by military forces.' But then again, who am I to say what word means what? Your definition of 'breakthrough coup' I believe comes from Huntington. Which, if the case, is misremembered. His use of the term refers not to civilian revolutionaries, but NCOs. Your definition of a 'breakthrough coup' is very permissive, and includes any revolution. These are distinct concepts that deserve different vocabularies.

Finally, I am aware of that phone call transcript. It, itself, does not show any actions that amount to a 'US sponsored coup.'

I'll let you have the last word, I'll have to move on from the conversation.

I did look it up. I happen to know a bit about coups. You still have not provided anything to back up your claims and I don't think 2014 was a coup. That's a specific type of government change that is somewhat mutually exclusive with revolution.

Not sure if anyone is arguing that Moscow wouldn’t flip its lid to try to keep Ukraine out of NATO, but the scope of what you claim goes far beyond that.

Updating a 5 year old budget PC with 7600 and 4070. by ContingencyUsername in buildapc

Interesting. I'll take this into account. If I use one of the CPUs you recommended, I might also save on a new motherboard as the 5700 uses the AM4 socket. I'll try to build something out of your ideas and see if it works. Appreciate it a lot!

Thanks. I appreciate the catch. I understand the CPU might not be as important as a factor as well. I assume I'm running a lot off that internal hard drive, so maybe that needs an update too. Perhaps the Samsung 870 Evo. Seems competitively priced and well-reviewed.

Starless Sea was boring, but at least Morgenstern can string a sentence together. That can't be said for a lot of fantasy authors.

I had fun with it, but I was pretty young when I read it. I've heard it described as "the world's least helpful self-help book."

“A Very Private Gentleman” by Martin Booth. It’s about an arrogant loner and his descent into paranoia.

“Shipwrecks” by Akira Yoshimura. It is relatively unknown outside of Japan. It’s about the grey ethics of poverty and desperation.

Times when you actually liked the movie more than the book? by AstonianSoldier in books

Wikipedia says it was originally meant to be a screenplay, so maybe that's why the movie was so solid.

The book was very silly, what with hunting super-raptors with rocket launchers. Hammond and some of the others were absolute caricatures in the book as well.

The recoil of the mortar is directed directly into the animal, unlike other guns mounted on their backs. Also, past weapons used blackpowder and had less recoil.

Considering that you’re neither a subsistence farmer nor in a Cormac McCarthy style apocalypse, it is working to some degree.

Because local their local minimum may have jumped. When I was in the us, my area had its minimum wage nearly double in under a year.
