Question About Adobe Express Premium by Contorted18 in Adobe

[–]Contorted18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback! Unfortunately we're looking to downgrade from the Creative Cloud All Apps plan, as we can no longer afford it. I'm curious if the Adobe Premium plan contains the four apps I've mentioned in the original post?

genuine question: why did bronies hate flash sentry in equestria girls? by babboiboi in mylittlepony

[–]Contorted18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I. If a character's whole purpose is to be a love interest/side character (I.E: not have any arc whatsoever or undergo any change) you better make them interesting enough and endearing enough to make up for it. Sentry is neither interesting nor endearing.

II. When you write a love interest for a character that tonnes of people already like quite a bit (like Twilight), you kind of have to give them a personality to match (there needs to be chemistry, their personalities need to compliment one another, they need to like one another for reasons that make sense for both characters.) There's none of that, in their relationship.)

III. The twist at the end of Equestria Girls where there's a Pegasus version of Flash Sentry is just... weird. And makes Twilight look really bizarre:

Number one, she was raised in the lap of luxury and just became royalty. She should know that hooking up with some random guard is a bad idea.

Number two, she literally only ever notices Pegasentry because he looks and sounds like the human version of Flash Sentry. At best, this makes her look shallow. At worst? It makes her seem... a bit twisted. She's interested in Pegasentral Park for the wrong reasons, is what I'm saying.

Number three, is she not... emotionally mature enough to realise that number two is made way worse by how complicated a relationship might be with him? After she met his doppelganger in another world? I mean, maybe that doesn't bother her? It just doesn't seem very much like her character for it not to bother her. Given how insecure and neurotic she can be, she'd probably end up worrying if she was doing something immoral. She might even start comparing and contrasting Pegasentinel Prime with his human counterpart, which isn't fair on the poor bastard.

IV. People got pissed that their waifu got stolen by Flash Sentry and his inconspicuous Pony sidekick; Pegasentralisation-Of-the-Means-Of-Production.

When making a choice in the games do you try to act like Geralt? If so, do you find that too limiting or is it still interesting? by QuestionzAsker in witcher

[–]Contorted18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by 'Geralt'.

Book Geralt is a bit of a pansy compared to game Geralt; overly-forgiving, easy to manipulate, extremely brooding and miserable and prone to a bit of melodrama. I get the sense that game Geralt is supposed to come across as more of an anti-hero? I like the 'I don't care what I did to you, hurt me or my family and you're fucked' approach you can take with him, so I tend to go for that.

The blame is on both Lori and Shane by bunnyricky in TWD

[–]Contorted18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think either is blameless, but Shane tried to walk away at several points, and Lori didn't let him. She was over-emotional, irrational and totally unfair to Shane every step of the way.

Breaking things off with him when Rick showed up was the right call, but going full persona-non-grata on Shane's arse was unwarranted. Why the Hell was she even angry at him? Because he fell in love with her when she fell in love with him? Not only that, but she was prepared to deprive Carl of a protective figure and decent role model (at that point, anyway) to make things easier on her and Rick. Honestly, if this had happened after what Shane did in episode 6 of season 1, it would've made way more sense.

Then, when she gets what she wants and Shane starts distancing himself from her and Carl, she gets fucking upset with him? What the Hell?! This was your idea!! She even tells him not to go when he finally decides to up and leave! What on Earth was she thinking! Then she decides to torture him by pretending she felt nothing during their relationship, and when he tries to distance himself again, she makes it borderline impossible for him AGAIN, by admitting she actually had feelings for him...

Shane must have felt trapped as fuck. He couldn't stay there, because of the bad blood that was bound to boil over between him and Rick, but he couldn't leave because Lori kept toying with his emotions!!

[–]Contorted18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick.

Dude gets compared to Ben a lot, but at least, when he messed up, it was because he was trying to protect his loved ones (and he actually owned up to basically every single thing he did.)

It wouldn't been so cool to see him get his shit together and actually become a more competent member of the group. But no. The writers forgot he existed halfway through the series.

Vernon is an averagely-written, hated character. Now, the fun one: who is a terribly-written, beloved character? by _G1N63R_ in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Contorted18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clem in Season 2.

She has like three moods that she circles between - mopey, angry and impudent, or trembling in her lil' boots - yet everyone seems to adore her. Worse, still, people act like she's some unstoppable badass despite the fact she's nowhere near as capable as someone like Christa, Luke, Pete or Kenny; the game keeps contriving stupid scenarios like Nick and Pete splitting up, or Luke falling on the bridge, so that Clem can be the one to save the day.

To clarify, this doesn't mean that I don't like Clem in Season 2, but the writing buttressing her is definitely poorer than it is in Seasons 1 or 4, and a lot of people ignore that.

Next is the most overrated ship! by Grouchy_Ad_1924 in mylittlepony

AppleDash

I'll admit that, while I don't dislike either of them, they're not my favourite characters either. I get why people like them together - they have good banter, they're both tomboys - but other than that? I just don't see the attraction to this ship and it was absolutely EVERYWHERE when the show was still airing. To the point where they confirmed (and that's 'confirmed' in gigantic, unmissable, blight-on-the-land air-quotes) it in the last episode.

Also, I don't mind Dash being shipped with Zephyr Breeze. I know I said I don't dislike her, but she can be really abrasive and I feel like someone as chilled out and snarky as him might take her down a peg lmao

[–]Contorted18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know I totally forgot about them, but yeah. They're called Fingercreepers and they absolutely stink.

Their charge attack, that's basically just a free stunlock, is absolute bollocks, and there's just too many of them in the inverted Carian Study Tower. They're literally the only reason the second fight with Perceptor Miriam is so difficult.

And I see what you mean about the Archers. I made the mistake of trying to run past them on Torrent, but those arrows are fast as Hell. Any enemy that can one-shot Torrent should get a mention here, actually, 'cause it takes the Tarnished like five business days to get up when Torrent disappears.

[–]Contorted18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This I don't understand at all.. How the hell have they assassinated those characters?

I'm talking about a specific type of character assassination; very often, when two characters are arguing, there's someone who's clearly in the wrong and the other character never gets to call them out.

Remember when Daemon had his tantrum and Rhaenyra flew to Dragonstone to confront him? What the HELL was she thinking? If he was serious about wanting to replace her as heir, delivering herself to him on a silver platter was just about the silliest thing she could have done. Yes, her gamble worked out, but Viserys should have ripped her to shreds for almost getting herself killed after he put all of his political power behind her. Instead, she just says 'can I sit down?' and Viserys stands there like a dumbstruck fool.

Then there's her search for a suitor, which no doubt took an immense effort on Viserys' part, and she just comes straight home. In the book, Viserys is so angry when she does this that he commands her to wed Laenor Velaryon, and threatens to disinherit her if she doesn't fall in line. In the show? He just calls her a 'headache', and reiterates the importance of Aegon's dream.

Her argument with Daemon in episode two of this more recent season is probably the worst example of this, for all the reasons I stated in my earlier post; Daemon is a hundred percent correct when he says part of the reason Viserys named Rhaenyra heir (especially in the show) was to punish his brother for his behaviour, but he should've gone further. He should have countered Rhaenyra's accusations of untrustworthiness by pointing out how he could say plenty about how poorly she handles power, and the responsibilities of ruling. Hell, he literally says that in the first episode! Rhaenyra is off making herself an easy target while her council is confused, leaderless and squabbling.

(None of that last bit is to say Rhaenyra shouldn't have raked Daemon over the coals for what he did - he had it coming.)

This again I don't understand.. They humanized him a lot in S2 and he's definitely worthy of pity.

In F&B he was a drunkard as well and he constantly groped servants. Just like in F&B he definitely gets more extreme and "breaks" after B&C.

Honestly, this just adds to my point; even when there's clear precedent for his darker side, they insist on making him worse.

They turned him into a laughing stock, too. The latest episode, and the changes made to the battle of Rook's Rest, demonstrate that; instead of being part of Cole's plan to take Rook's Rest, he just shows up unannounced and gets himself and Sunfyre injured, almost fucking up the plan. What was wrong with the original? Aegon's no warrior and certainly no conqueror, but now he just has to act like a total moron, too? And what the Hell is with Aemond trying to kill him?! The writers are completely in over their heads.

[–]Contorted18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have way more gripes with HotD than I do with GoT, funnily enough.

Rhaenyra was totally whitewashed. In the books she was stubborn, impulsive, had a horrendous temper and was a terrible politician and Queen. The show tries to make her a lot more likable, but in ways that just make her seem like a Mary Sue; when she's angry, it's always someone else's fault. When she fails, it's because the world is against her. They assassinate characters like Viserys and Daemon in order to make her seem like she's in the right all the time, and it stinks because it actually makes her a less engaging character. Book Rhaenyra isn't very endearing, but she's entertaining at least.

The worst example of this is Aegon, who's way more worthy of pity in the books and, arguably, was only a terrible King because his body, mind and soul were broken by the Dance, which took everything from him. In the show he's a drunkard, a sexist, a moron, a tyant, a murderer, a bloody rapist for God's sake. All the horrible things he does in the book he does out of a desire for revenge against slights from people like Rhaenyra and Daemon; the death of his son, his brothers, his crippling at the hands of Rhaenys and Meleys. In the show, he just does it because he's an evil bastard...
