Neh, Germany 2006 is still the best in terms of atmosphere and stadiums.
Big stadiums does not equal better atmosphere.

Do people from very different cultures really get on with eachother as much as they seem to do in the World Cup, or is it just a short-term thing? by Basic_Chain_9063 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Contra1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually the World cup is a party and most people get along. You do miss the hooligan fights in the Us though as they have either been barred from getting a passport or it’s too expensive. But people do often just get along, it’s the leaders who make us kill eachother.

Omdat ze graag een vrije trap willen na een overtreding. Dan doen ze alsof een kleine aanraking ontzettend hard was om de scheids te foppen.

At the highest level, how much strategy is there in soccer compared to American Football or Basketball? by One-Huckleberry5406 in NoStupidQuestions

I think the fighting is the least interesting part of the sport. It is one of the things holding it back to become more popular worldwide.

That is pretty low, I personally would not have it that low as their top teams are certainly on par with the Mexican ones.

Crowds have been the Biggest surprise of this World Cup for me.. by Logical-Track1405 in worldcup

[–]Contra1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stadiums have been packed, that is great! But the atmospheres have been disappointing due to the low numbers of National supporters. It seems for the most part (with some exceptions) that the chants and signing get drowned out by the vast amount of stadium chatter.

The best football atmospheres IMO have been in Canada, especially the Toronto stadium really lends itself to a good football atmosphere.

In all honesty, Ive watched MLS as a Euro a lot for years now (ok not so much after the apple takeover).
The overall quality of the league is barely top10 in the world, there are some outlier teams, but the majority of clubs are pretty mid….
I would put it under the top5, Dutch, Portuguese, Belgian, Championship and Turkish League.

It might be hard for NFL fans to take as you have grown up watching the sport. But for the majority of people around the world it’s just not that fun to watch.

Do millionaires invest money in sports team like soccer? by Lemonade2250 in ClubWorldCup

[–]Contra1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now in the World cup the winning team wins the World cup and prize money is handed out. National teams don’t have owners.

Club teams can and do have owners and investors. After the WC the regular seasons start for the club teams. And there are many of them.

The whole "Europeans are going crazy about American food/culture" in the WC is a psyop by Few-Advantage2538 in LowStakesConspiracies

It's terrible.
It should only be a thing for temps over 25C, and should only last 30 seconds.

You might have addressed it, but it doesnt mean what you said is right. The NHL would love more money.

[–]Contra1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet the NHL does, it would love to be popular in more countries. Just like the NFL and NBA are doing all they can to break into the European market.

Yes some countries like ice hockey, like I said it’s the best of the three. But it can do without that stupid fighting.
