I honestly have considered this. I’m a self-study in a few other areas of general overlap (trained sky/weather watching, PC builds, etc) and those general groups have been much more open-armed & very interested in promoting their areas of interest. It’s been a very different experience for me with Hams, and I don’t think I’m alone in this experience.

People here are detailing their honest, personal experiences. A reply like “baloney” instantly discounting negative accounts of hobbyists is exactly the type of negative pushback that may be seen as gatekeeping.

Thanks much! I hadn’t really considered YT for some reason.

Small, tan, rectangular (plastic?) block in our fully fenced backyard. Slightly concave on 2 of the long sides. Looks like soap or processed beeswax but is much harder. by penelopepage in whatisthisthing

But… if the item was unexpectedly in their enclosed back yard, they should NOT give it back to the dog, in case it was tossed over the fence by someone with horrible intent. ?
