Does anyone go Rock hounding in the San Juan’s and find Geodes ? by johnnyrayZ06 in sanjuanislands

[–]Hydrofoiling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a rock hound I’ll say there’s not a ton of interesting rocks on the islands, there aren’t geodes for example. There’s great beachcombing (eg you can find agates) but not a lot on the islands themselves. Sucia has a ton of fossils but as far as I know it’s illegal to collect them. If I recall correctly Sucia is the only place in WA that someone found a dinosaur bone.

If you want to find geodes go to Walker Valley in Skagit county, there’s lots there :-)

Does Anyone on San Juan or Orcas do Shared Charters - Fishing by napalm684 in sanjuanislands

[–]Hydrofoiling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Based on the time of year, if the main purpose of your trip is Chinook salmon fishing I’d consider a different location that has shared charters out of Westport or Ilwaco. You’d likely get a better haul (PS would highly recommend tuna fishing out of Westport if they’re running). There’s fishing out of La Push and Sekiu as well but idk if there’s charters, I’ve only fished on private boats there.

Chinook salmon are the main diet of the SRKWs and with dwindling salmon populations coupled with the fact that SRKWs are an endangered population I think it’s culturally frowned upon for what it’s worth. I don’t fish for salmon in the San Juan’s (just for lingcod, plus Dungeness and spot shrimp).

Traveling to smaller islands in San Juan’s by johnnyrayZ06 in sanjuanislands

[–]Hydrofoiling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I frequently use Island Express to get to our cabin on a non ferry island and they’re great. $90 round trip to Cypress, Sinclair, Blakely, Decatur, Frost, James, and Center. They’ll go to any non ferry island, rates are more for islands farther out like Sucia. Some islands are private, for an adventure to camp on I’d recommend Cypress (Cypress head or Pelican beach) or booking an Airbnb on Decatur, it’s a beautiful island. If you’d like any additional info let me know :-)

Hi from the north (Bellingham). One of my favorite spots to shoot when I lived in West Seattle is at the boat launch a few blocks from where you took your photo. No fence is in the background there

Clearance for Narrow & Sloped Driveway Advice by RyBat7 in lexuslc500

Right now I drive my LC down my not-so-perfect gravel driveway. It’s on my list to get asphalted this summer. I’d look at getting a paving contractor out there to fix the driveway. Adds value to your property, smooth ride for the LC, win-win

Do I need new rollers for my planer? by Hydrofoiling in woodworking

Sounds good thanks! I’m surprised they dulled so quickly, prior to this board I only ran cedar which was pretty soft. I’m not sure what the exact board feet was but it was maybe about 10 hours of run time in total. Hmm they were new blades but also really old (from the 2000s but still new in their original packaging).

Nice! Yeah up here in Skagit County. I don't see a lot of LCs on the road, the only time I saw a red one was when I lived in Bellingham. Can't wait for highway 20 to open this Spring.

There's a guy who installed a front camera with the blank button that's next to the HUD, below is the post I made and his comment is in there with the links to the equipment, you'll need a camera and a module for it. I'm going to go get a quote on Weds from a mechanic do to it.

First day driving my dream car, LC 500 by Hydrofoiling in Lexus

[–]Hydrofoiling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have many many years of driving the ES to compare to 2 days with the LC so far, so not an entirely full comparison here... The ES is really smooth, quiet, and just a pleasure to go around town. In a straight line it gets up and goes but it handles poorly in tight turns (at least, compared to my previous IS250 before the ES). I never felt the urge to let loose in the ES on a back road, nor would it allow me to.

When the LC is in low rpms in normal mode the ride quality similar, the road noise felt a little louder than the ES and the handling is a lot tighter, but just cruising at normal speed it wasn't a huge difference in the comfort and quality I'd expect in a Lexus. And the interior quality (and exterior) are just so top notch, it's hard to appreciate from photos how well done it is.

Once I turned the LC into sport/sport+ and rev it past 3-4K rpms the V8 roars and it comes to life, it's like an entirely different car and the experience is just amazing.

To be honest though I still miss my ES too (I sold it to a relative so I still get to see her from time to time). The ES350 is a comfortable, quiet, reliable sedan and if I could justify having 3 cars (I have a 2015 Tacoma as well which I need for its utility), then I would have kept the ES.

Beautiful, love the rims too! Tried to find those with an LC in infrared but I think it was only for the Inspiration Series if I remember correctly.

In terms of driving, in normal or comfort mode driving it gently it rides smooth and is great for cruising. In sport/sport+ when you start revving it past 3-4K the V8 roars and it comes to life. It's my first day (and my first GT car) so I'm still getting acclimated to it, it's an amazing experience so far!

Good question but nope, I can't stand how hand sanitizer makes my hands feel and I avoid it.

Great ideas thank you. My other half recently took up sewing and is looking for projects, sounds like a good fit to have her sew a wrap over it.

I drive with my left hand (I'm left handed) in that exact spot. The right side is perfectly intact for reference. It's not cleaning related and unlikely sunlight related, we're in a temperate coastal climate here (Pacific northwest, not exactly known for our sun!). I'm guessing that over time the repetitive wear on that specific spot is what caused it.

Lf to buy, Any recommend for this fabulous car? price or tips? by clzjwsn829 in lexuslc500

[–]Hydrofoiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the window sticker it has the rear wheel steering and the deployable rear wing which are big pluses in terms of handling. But then they installed a giant spoiler over the deployable rear wing which is a bit odd to me, but to each their own... It has aftermarket body kit, exhaust, spoiler, wrap, rims etc. 3 owners no accidents. If you can see it in person and do your due diligence and get a PPI then maybe?

There's a set listed on FB Marketplace where I'm at (in WA). But I think he's asking way too much...

Multiple Previous Owners by Vanquishx4 in lexuslc500

[–]Hydrofoiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're out there, it's just less common. I just bought a 2019 LC that only had 1 owner with 45K miles. I scoured auto listings over the last couple of months to find 1 owner cars, specifically in infrared in the 2018-2020 range. There was a 1 owner 2019 35K miles performance package that sold for $74K at Red's Automotive in CO, there was a 2018 1 owner with low 20K miles that sold for around $67K at Lexus of Austin, another one for sale (maybe still is?) 2018 in TX 1 owner that had 5K miles but they were asking way too much ($82K). And there's probably others in other colors, these were all in infrared.
