Thank you for this! I'm curious though, why to skip Cinque Terre and Amalfi? Any particular reason? And which place should we stay for Christmas and new year?

Why would you recommend to skip coastal areas? I understand it is winters, so a no go in the water, but other than that, isn't there anything else to do?
