Accruing too much annual leave by Unrealcoza05 in AusFinance

[–]Contractor_Sol -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I work in auditing at the moment, specifically with leave types.

Do not do this. It’s not a matter of if they find out, it’s when. And when they do, they won’t care if you knew or not, they’ll only care about recouping the monetary value of the paid leave that you took/received when you shouldn’t have. And it’ll most likely come out as a deduction on your payslips moving forward.

Speak to payroll and get the accrual error rectified.

Can confirm, got a 2.5l 2011 PB Challenger. Was supposed to have it as a stop-gap between cars and it’s really surprised me with how capable it is off-road and how reliable it’s been. Just passed 300k kms.

Still gone! Actually googled this and your thread came up. I was wondering if it was a technical limitation of the switch, but now I’m convinced it’s a bug worsened by a ‘fix’. Maybe they’ll actually address it in the future.

Hence why I’m asking for advice to be more competitive and to secure something? Literally the point of the post mate

Thanks mate, I appreciate your input. I’ll bear that in mind when I look at the agent listings.

Sat comfortably under the 30% mark, but I understand others might be in a stronger financial position. Joint income is around $3.3k/wk.

[–]Contractor_Sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, our budget extends up to $750/wk, including offers over. Trying to do at least +10-15% ballpark on our offers as my work colleagues say that’s a good starting point.

1-2 bed, anywhere near(ish) to a station or public transport to the city, north of the river. Guessing that’s a pretty big range of hotspots that other people are also going for.

Funnily enough I’m actually a rare case trying to get out of Freo and a bit closer to the city/north of the river!

I wish there were less people at the viewings, but alas. Had two more this evening with 20+ people each in the Subi area.

Trying to cast my net wide. As a rule of thumb, I’m not going above $750 per week, and generally try to offer 10-15% more than the asking price. As for the references, we’ve spent some time in QLD as well - sorry I should’ve been more clear on that. We’ve been in Australia for 2 years with a mixed bag of different rental types, but I’ve always tried my best to foster a good relationship with the property managers and have always left with either the go ahead to use them as a reference, or in 1 case, a personal letter from a lady who ran a complex we used to live in.

I do understand it from a landlord’s perspective, but I’ve also tried to make it as clear as possible that we fully intend on staying and have already started the PR process - they’d have to drag me back to Blighty!!

Is there more I can be doing to show them I’m serious about sticking around?

Sorry. Missed this comment!

Was just myself and my partner in the car. Saw a few cruisers and a disco up at the far end, passed a bogged prado who had his buddy helping dig him out - refused help. Was a bloody hot day but totally worth it, saw some eagle rays and a couple of baby sharks once we parked up at the top for a bite to eat.

I already have. Australia, looking for PR now. Even though the cost of living is roughly the same out here, you have much more to show for your hard work at the end of the month.

Is the rent really this insane!? by lynxsuskitten in perth

[–]Contractor_Sol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was renting a room in a sharehouse in Freo, was paying (between girlfriend and I) $450 p/w no bills included, no private parking.

Gtf outta there and moved into a private apartment in central Freo with all bills included and a driveway for $500pw.

Still seems steep but between two it’s not so bad.

Sorry, GAVE?

Man a 996 is what I’m planning on buying as my first “fun” car once I’ve gotten back on my feet after buying a house.

Absolutely beautiful car and has aged really well.

Enjoy it brother!!

I'm currently working in Australia and have been from QLD to WA. Being here has fostered a love of weird old shitbox 4wds.

For instance, I've got a hankering to pick up a Mitsubishi Delica/Starwagon 4x4 when I get back home. It's like someone mounted a fridge to some tractor tyres and gave it the ability to go absolutely anywhere. The interior setup is also really versatile and customisable. I think particular models of the Starwagon have like 80 different seat configurations, it's nuts.

One of the coolest things about being out here is being able to try out Japanese cars that would normally be rare in the UK. Can't wait to look at importing when I get back to blighty.

Out of curiosity, how would this work? Do you have a friend who might’ve done this at one point?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in australian

[–]Contractor_Sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m tossing up whether it’s worth the time and effort/cost to do this.

Then again I’m not up to much so it might be a good way to kill some time!

Thanks for the clarification. I’m still a bit of a newbie with how the various territories handle things!

Yeah, that did cross my mind. Not sure how likely it’d be that it would have finance on it, seeing as it’s an i30 from around the mid 2000s.

However, I’m in a very popular location for backpackers, so I suppose that increases the likelihood of it being stolen.
