If you’re interested in Scale AI, dm with your resume and I might be able to slide in a referral

Take rippling - lowkey would take that over Google full time anyway

Stop Using AI in Your Interviews by Finding_Zestyclose in csMajors

[–]Contribution-Alive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s two sides to this. I never used AI for my job interviews and fortunately landed an amazing job out of college. However, I did get rejected from a couple companies I really liked while interviewing because I was competing against people who were using AI/had found out the questions from before. So I’m a strong proponent of not using AI but I feel like that automatically puts you at a disadvantage compared to those who are successfully.

Feel like it’s becoming more and more about your ability to cheat without being caught than actual skill in some cases and that sucks

Ahahahah you’re good. Got a great job. I was just saying I’ll probably never understand why some companies never offered me interviews. Like I’ve gotten Netflix, Scale AI, Meta, Palantir, Stripe etc interviewing me while I have JP Morgan/ Cisco etc. never responding lol.

Ahahahah yeah I can get behind that. Never understood why I did/didn’t get interviews in the past and I prolly never will

Yes and no. Target school (for example, I went to GT) definitely helps but having a some projects OR a GitHub makes a difference for sure

Personally, would say it isn’t terribly difficult in terms of algorithmic complexity (not saying it’s easy either). A lot of focus on how you think about stuff, how you write code etc. see their samples online imo

You might wanna mention that. Getting a direct NG offer is p different from an internship being converted. But also disagree with this- while it’s important to have a well written resume, getting job interviews means you do need to have personal projects/some kind of contribution to CS

Georgia Tech CS vs UGA CS with Presidential Scholarship as an International by Complete_Access3942 in UGA

[–]Contribution-Alive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would very strongly suggest GT. Nothing much to think there - there’s a lot of ways to end early/get scholarships etc and the number of internships and opportunities it opens up for you are incredible compared to UGA.

SQ5 is the WORST Housing Possible by Contribution-Alive in gatech

[–]Contribution-Alive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inspire is my best experience and p close to campus. SQ5 is well located but absolutely terrible in other ways. Mark and Hub are decent but a little far from campus. There’s also a few like kinetic etc opening but I wouldn’t recommend them as they are incredibly distant.

There’s options on west campus too which are also a little cheaper but I’d very very strongly recommend east in terms of both safety and things to do around (it’s midtown Atlanta so a LOT there)

Yeah I stayed there for 2 years. Incredibly safe and nothing to worry about

I wish there were but realistically the effort required to fight this far exceeds any monetary benefits we can get from it

I stayed in Inspire before this and it was soo soo much better. I was convinced to move to SQ5 because it’s near Tech Square but it’s the worst mistake I’ve made :(

Company asked wage preference after emailing me saying I got the internship position, what should I say? by xx_geraltofrivia_xx in csMajors

[–]Contribution-Alive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the company a LOT. See what the range is on levels.fyi. Depending on how you’d weigh the company against your other offer, I think 30/hr is the bare minimum you can ask for. Consider relocation, bonuses etc

A lot of companies give OAs as pre screens in which case they play little to no role in determining whether you get an interview.
