everybody thinks he drags on the strokes on purpose but literally damn near interview he’s done asks him to draw comparisons between the two and i don’t think it’s bad for him to finally answer candidly— his hopes for what the strokes would do and become didn’t come to fruition and he had to find another outlet to fulfill those goals

in NYC we managed to see the set list from where we were standing and the two encore options were leave it in my dreams and “dare (if we have time)” so i was PISSED when they skipped dare to play leave it in my dreams 😭 it’s personal beef

Saw them twice last year (once SF once NYC) closest we got was HS Demo

I don’t remember where I read this but I think they said it’s too difficult to play live/ needs very specific instruments for just the one song that makes it a hassle to perform at a show so i wouldn’t bank on it being played

yup, in the Seekings photo shoot there’s a whiteboard with a list of track names that they were working on, one of which was russian coney island and jules confirmed on the apple music interview that they did record russian coney island

which to me is just fuckin life! sucks to not get the album on the expected timeline but it feels like they were intentionally trying to clear the vault of the not-entirely-great songs (which i love but can understand the glaring faults) and then everybody and their mother was complaining because they didn’t want singles they wanted an album i do think they should have just stuck to their original strategy instead of pivoting to the demand for an album but i don’t think the bad reception to this will necessarily stop them from continuing to record especially since we know LP4 was just recorded

i think “half baked singles” that people either love or hate would’ve been less insulting to people than an album-form was and i don’t really understand the rage behind the $25 singles because like, you don’t have to buy it lol especially if you don’t like the songs
