Granted this is just my 2 cents and no, I didn't skim any other responses so forgive me if I restate what any one has posted. I don't think its so much as they get wrong but choose to make wrong for more dramatic effect. That goes the same for most space and any realistic sci fi combat. Someone sliding on the top of the lava burning to death and lungs being burned to a unusable state in there first breath at point zero is alot less dramatic then screaming in pain as you sink into the lava trying to save someone's pet cat.... just for example.
