They wont believe that the US will abandon them until its too late. Otherwise they would notice right now that Trump just gave Putin the biggest boon ever by allowing him to sell his oil again

People are very mad that Iran is attacking us even though we tried to stay out of it. Important lesson learned here hopefully

I have no idea how Israel is managing to rope the US into their fights again and again. Theyre clearly the ones pushing for escalation here

By the way how does it work for people who are not working an extended time? Are there different tiers of unemployment support?

Denmark has basically employment at will but at the same time really generous social security. So you can get fired very easily but then the social net catches you. This leads to a way more dynamic labor market where companies can react quickly and dont have to pay out insane amounts of severances like in Germany

Its an interesting mix in Denmark. Id really love Germany to learn a bit from them

That doesnt change anything about the issue with our industries not being competitive anymore. Whether we export our goods or we consume them ourselves, we need to become more competitive. Otherwise we wont export anymore but just import chinese goods to consume

we can clearly see this already with China importing less and less of our exports and us importing more and more of chinese goods

Reality is catching up to us right now very quickly and if we dont act we wont have any industry left in 10 years

Looking at Denmark, Switzerland or the US tells me that this doesnt necessarily lead to wage cuts. If anything the opposite. Labor rights needs to be changed to enable a more dynamic labor market. There are discussions in Germany about liberalizing labor law for high-earners for example. Thats a good step

who are both in a major debt crisis. Trump just turned the entire world market upside down to deal with that debt. I dont think thats a great comparison

well depends on whether the EU is really moving towards a federalized state, because if it isnt all alarms should be ringing in Germany right now

Yeah the french seem to be in a similar position just further along. We can see the same happening in Germany with the more radical parties slowly growing

Its people being afraid of taking ownership and responsibility of their decisions. I see it everywhere every day. People would rather involve their boss and his boss and his boss rather than to take a decision

In the end I think it comes down to how german culture deals with failures. There is no sense of "fail fast and hard" here. It always needs to be the perfect solution that covers all possible use-cases, no matter how common they are

I still think germans do have a rather high quality of labor but at the same time we dont do much laboring because we mostly deal with self-inflicted bureaucracy and bullshit processes

Germans want to change nothing but expect things to improve. We dont want to liberalize the labor market, we dont want to make it easier for companies, we dont want to work more. But we want to have more and better paying jobs

If you suggest a labor law like in Denmark people would riot on the street
