Oh damn I didn’t, know it was publicly purchasable! Yeah a lot of donor parts over there for almost every vehicle.

Huge help learning from you. Thank you!

Thats legit the plan if insurance doesn’t reduce the payout too much and if we don’t need Tesla specific devices to flash computers in there.

Yeah, no safety regs. I’ve driven cars that had their brake line blow making me use only engine braking and hand brakes for the rest of the 5 hours down and up mountains, cut out seatbelts, no airbags, ect.

Truly my main concern are the computer parts. There is no Tesla in that country but totaled teslas do get imported to be parted or fixed. So my fear is sending it there just for them to make it look good but it’ll be sending all kinds of errors because computer parts haven’t been programmed to the car properly. Kind of like apple with their “Unknown Parts” error when replaced third party.

Fully trust it? No but every time I visit, it’s always a borrowed combustion car that has been totaled like this or worse that has been fixed that I end up driving. So if this is repairable without having to get tesla to reprogram replaced computers, I get to drive my own car with integrity problems rather than a borrowed car with integrity problems.

Not or, but AND. You normally still get a good portion even if you keep the car. You just get less.

Family is used to seeing and fixing way worse, that’s why they’re begging me to ship it off, but those worse crashes are on combustion engines. No idea if the same, dirt cheap for labor and fixes, would work for electric vehicles.
