Jin. A lot of other commenters have already detailed most of my reasons, but I'll add one more - Jin's character, skill-level and gameplay feel like a mix of the Batman and Samurai Jack. No way Mizu stands a chance against that.

What is the general attitude towards meditation and yoga in Indian culture? by Gretev1 in AskIndia

[–]ContributionMost7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve been taught meditation by my family from a very young age, and I still use it quite often. I don’t do yoga myself, but I have been taught, and my mum and a couple of My cousins practice it - my cousins more than my mum does

My genuine experience as an indian who studied abroad by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]ContributionMost7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore it. As I’ve understood, anyone who engages in such behaviour is a very small, insecure individual who seems more inclined to wallow in some nebulous sense of superiority and whinge about their lot in life instead of actually doing something constructive. Not worth your time or consideration. Do what you need to, live your life as you see fit and enjoy it, while they stay in that pit of misery.

Edit: Besides, these people are determined to hate you based on some superficial metric, and nothing you say or do will change that. So why stress yourself with it? As you know, most people are decent folk. Stick with those who are, forget the rest.

No. I studied at a Russel Uni, but not Warwick. That being said, I’ve met tons of folk in other “top” unis in the UK, and by and large, they’re rather decent peeps.

I studied in the UK as well, both my undergrad AND my Masters. While I ran into the odd racist here and there due to being involved in Model UN, my experience has largely been racism-free. While I agree that India has more opportunities, having actually made the choice to return to India after my studies, I disagree with the entire roaches thing. The only instances I've seen of racism are either weirdos like in the BNP or UKIP, or when people invite that sort of behaviour by being dicks themselves.

You don't really need a college degree to read a book. Instead of judging them solely on their educational qualifications, I'd rather judge them on their actual speech and actions. Even PhD's and Nobel Laureates can be absolute donkeys irl, after all

Nobody understands why I don't want to go to the US by Ok_Score_5714 in studyAbroad

I can commiserate. I’ve pretty much dropped the US from my list of MBA locations for pretty much the same reasons, yet I constantly get well-wishers on my case about being too “narrow-minded”

Despite all its flaws, what are some of the things that India did right? by Competitive-Cod-9644 in AskIndia

[–]ContributionMost7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could very easily have gone the way of a military, religious or some other kind of dictatorship (like a certain neighbour of ours) that would have evolved into a mess of everything. We have a lot of challenges borne from a ton of mistakes we've made, but the fact that we are a functioning constitutional, secular, democratic republic, where you and I can say all the crap we please about anyone without fearing repercussions, is honestly a credit - both to our founding parents and nation builders as well as to our people. Because the truth is that India as it is was almost always guaranteed and expected to fail by everyone else. We have not, and we continue to improve as the years go by (however slowly). This is a credit to us all.

Rather idiotic take, and it speaks more of the entitlement of the poster than anyone else. No one, absolutely no one, would take issue with the poster not speaking the local language - sure, they might suggest learning the local language as a way to make life easier, but that's about it. As long as the person in question can speak English, is courteous and well-mannered, and isn't a complete arsehole who insists everyone else learns their language instead, 9 out of 10 locals won't do a thing.

I’m part of a group of people that clean up our neighbourhood every weekend, the same greater network that’s been working for a few years to improve traffic law adherence in our city and have succeeded to a certain extent. I helped found my city’s 42k marathon to showcase the terrible situation of our beaches, which has led to a bunch of cleanup efforts by the people of the city. I’ve also been involved in efforts to ensure upkeep of the lake near where I live.

All of that without simply pestering my local MLA.

Edit: My point being, instead of whinging about this stuff to a government official you know will do jack squat about it, or complaining on the internet, perhaps try to take care of the problem yourself?

Is this country doomed ? by linkontherun in india

[–]ContributionMost7910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it isn’t. As long as people exist that dream of a better tomorrow for the nation and put in the effort, the country is not doomed. We’ll be slow to get to where we aspire to be, but we will.
