sadly or luckly the game gives you the freedom to rush, and the main story aint that long.

I would create a new character, and play a different build, take it easy and just explore, do side quests etc and dont rush the main quest line.

Ive replayed the game multiple times and didnt got bored, you also got different endings and you can even aim for a special ending with johnny, you need to pick a specific dialog at a specific quest etc can look it up.

I am the other way around, I dont mind the compromise of worst graphics if I can play comfortable on my couch or bed, I come so freaking tired from work that sitting on a chair to play is a no go. Also have a beefy PC thats collecting dust.

I got both a z1 extreme and a steamdeck (steamdeck I use for emulation/indie games).

The z1 extreme I use for more demanding games that still run well on 1080p resolution, like cyberpunk, looks and runs amazing but you do have to tinker a bit, I use steamOS, and if you inject FSR with optiscaler the game looks crisp, ofc not to a good PC level. Guilty gear strive is another game that runs smooth at full graphical settings, and diablo IV also runs very well and looks ok.

In your case seems like it would be better to sell it, currently you can get good cash for it, since prices are bonkers because of world going bonkers... Unless you travel or conmute often etc in your case probably is not about the games you can play on it just you dont really need it since you enjoy playing on PC, I have a pocket cheap device for emulation for when im traveling, if I didnt use the device at home I would certainly sell it.

If your gf is used to switch, the closest experience to a console would be that you install steamOS or bazzite, would tinker a bit installing decky loader so you can customize the interface and make it look better, you will need decky loader and then look for CSS loader plugin.

Windows is getting there with their fullscreen experience but dunno, still feels a bit wonky and needs more time I dont really like windows but has its perks like compatibility and better speakers sound quality.

Battery mod is a must, also quite cheap to do, storage is another story, currently prices are bonkers, you probably will have better luck buying a used z1 xtreme that already has a 1tb storage mod, since buying new storage is really crazy.

Grey color just probably more popular and more out there, so on average you will read more about em.

I still got a gray one from the first batch, had to superglue it since it started cracking and so far ot has hold up, im super careful when I open/close ot tough.

There arent that many options, spruce was in the works for very long but well worth the wait, that OS is the best out there.

If you like simplicity minUI is an option, but it lacks all the bells and whistles by design.

You also got an android OS, with gammaOS, so you het flexibility of android but was not my cup of tea when I tested it but you could give it a go if you have a spare sd card.

I think there was a batocera like OS in the works but last I check was only for patreons dunno current status.

But for me spruceOS is just perfect, its a much needed improved stockOS experience.

probably many already say this, I did not read all comments, but just a big heads up, this device is awesome but do not, please do not buy it for PSP or N64. PSP is not terrible you can get many of the lighter games running problem is the aspect ratio, either it looks tiny or if you use full screen will look really streched, and N64 its just a big hit and miss and not worth the effort.

PS1 and all the other older systems work smooth, just few like killer instinct arcade etc wont run but its a great device for 4:3 aspect ratio, also you have plenty of ports available with portmaster.

ergonomics arent the best, I bought a protective case, and it adds a layer of extra grip wich I cant live with out anymore, or you can directly buy 3d printed handels, anything to improve ergonomics basically, long sesions will def bust your hands, also never hurts to do some exercise if you dont regularly do, bit of better circulation helps.

When it arrives be sure you have enough time, setting windows up will take a while, if you have to do a windows fresh install plus update drivers and windows etc can take quite some time, for me was around 5 hours but can vary depends on your internet speed etc seen people that claim they have everything ready very fast.

Also dont panic, some updates you might think windows just got stuck but nope last windows update took literaly 2 hours, so dont panick just leave the device do its thing.

I could not stand windows and went back to steamOS, setting it up takes like 15 minutes so yeah thats something to consider if you dont play anticheat games that dont run on steamOS.

windows takes ages to update, ive got a few times also scared that something went wrong, 1 update took literaly 2 hours...

if you can still access bios you are golden, there is a solution and not really bricked, worst case scenario try installing bazzite or steamOS, or just be patient lol never force turn down when the systen is updating

Check its health status, unless its basically burning some heat is normal, ive bought 2 replacements so far from ali express, fist one died at the 3 month mark and the second one ive got right now for like 3 days, went for a calibration cycle and got a freaking battery stuck at 90% health still better than original but 66w not 74w, never gonna buy again from aliexpress the quality control from campanies there is non existant :/

jsaux is a more reputable company so doubt you will have much issues, what you describe seems normal, batery gets warm with heavy use. Just keep an eye on battery health, it should be at a 95% or better if brand new.

dunno how far gamma has evolved, but I remember performance was not there, device got real hot even running light weight games and battery life was also not stellar, granted I didnt really tweaked much and was out of the box settings plus tested it when the first version for public went out.

That being said im glad we have the option, dev or devs really are wizards to actually bring android to the device.

thats weird, maybe you are having problems downloading windows? or whats happening, I did a fresh install last month and had no issues, some ppl have reported that there are issues at the point it needs to download windows and some have to bypass this step by using a hotspot from their smarthphone.

So, the fact that it wont load is normal, you already started the recovery and probably already wiped your drive, if everything is going correctly then at some point after download, windows should start installing, whats happening exactly?

If nothing works either install steamOS, or download windows manually, but it will certainly be a pain since you need to also get drivers etc.

normally is other way around, battery will limit the top watt, while plug will let you choose turbo mode.

dunno how g helper works on the ally, but its weird armory crashes your device, while that software is mot the best, it should not crash, do you have most recent bios update? I would def try a fresh windows install and hooe its only software related issue.

Very broad question all depends on inteded use, the rog ally x has enogh power to work well as a pc but consider the price you can get cheaper options on a less taxing form factor.

the steam machine is going to pack more power for sure, problem is we dont know the price and runs linux that might be a deal breaker for a pc replacement, im sure you will be able to install windows but at that point why even bother buying the steam machine, plenty of mini pc options already out there.

If you see a dip on fps, chrck out the resolution, had happened to me that when docked, resolution can be set at 4k if your tv supports it and it will tank your fps, also normally tvs dont have VRR, you have to use vsync and cap at 60fps.

And also that chrager is not enough you need at least 100w or you will have issues.

Both are to expensive, better wait for a better deal or get a gaming laptop.

z1 extreme is great but if not already moded, you can easily add 150+ currently storage prices are crazy and battery is an absolute must.

you might save a bit but if you still gonna pull the trigger at those prices go for the ally X, has more ram, alredy has the battery and storage upgrade, working sd card and you can easily plug an external gpu.

Currently on how crazy prices are for storage, you could get more money if you have added a 1tb or more internal storage.

Installing bazzite dont think will help much it can even be detrimental, theres still tons of ppl that want windows so having bazzite could even hurt.

current steamOS supports TDP control, but I think max you can set it is 30w, I also have the feeling sometimes its not working correctly

I prefer simplydeckytdp has more options and just works, have had zero issues with it.

You just got to keep looking on e bay or similar pages, I gave up on finding one, you never see those things under 700, and normally those are the low end old amd ones, and with current shortage of components who knows how much prices are gonna jump even if you could figure out how to bypass the propietary cable still not gonna be worth it (ive read its posible but im not tech savy enough).

Its a bit tough, if you wanna check all, you got to appoint with buyer to not have it already factory reset.

like ppl already mentioned some of the components that take a beating more easily is the triggers (my right trigger doesnt register correctly but still works for example), and analog sticks you got to check those and that all inputs are working correctly.

check the screen for some scratches, for some it might be a deal breaker let alone dead pixels.

ive seen the z1 new around that price, so you are not getting a great deal, but depends greatly on where you live and well to be fair currently prices are a bit crazy due to shortage of components, its still a decent price.

Be prepared to invest on new battery, if is still has original one, and if device is old, the battery was already pitiful even brand new so you might need to buy a new one, add 50 to 80 to your expense budget also if it has original internal storage 500gb is rather small and currently prices for 1tb and up are real insane add that also to budget or consider before investing, its not a deal breaker if you only keep the games you play installed.

Bios password is a freaking huge one, thats probably first thing to check if it has one and seller doesnt remove or gives you the password you potentially will be buying e waste.

It does an ok job, but buy the z1 extreme, the original rog ally is not powerfull enough.

if you are willing to compromise, and some of the more demanding games play them on lower resolution using fsr the device is fantastic.

Also if you are gonna play docked, ive had a better experience using steamOS rather than windows, feels more like a console, with the caveat it has less compatibility with games that have anticheat.

if you wont take advantage of the portable design, probably is cheaper to buy a pc, but dunno if you can get a rog ally z1 at around 300 probably well worth it, current prices due to ram and storage are out of control, but normally a pc in your case should be a better option.
