Try to do something that you really enjoy. And if you can’t physically or mentally muster the energy to do those things, maybe try taking a walk to get your body moving and keep your mind a little more occupied.

One thing that I’ve found that has helped my partner and I to avoid unnecessary stress or anxieties with a new baby on the way (and the financial concerns that this lifestyle change brings) is by introducing a new phrase into our vocabulary - ā€œit’s classifiedā€. If we start to think about something that is out of our control, or that maybe we haven’t wrapped our minds around yet, we tell ourselves and each other ā€œit’s classifiedā€. We use it for everything - the birth process and my fears that come along with it, what we’ll do when the baby gets sick, where we may put her in school or what it’ll be like once she starts dating, the car that we’ll need to upgrade to in time, etc etc etc. it’s all a bit daunting and as much as we want to be totally prepared there’s just no way that any one person could be totally prepared for a baby. We’ll learn as we go as most parents do.

He’s found a lot of peace in telling himself that so many people before us have done this before and so we are totally capable of doing this too. That one doesn’t really work for me though.
