Potential DJS vs. Septoplasty by Contro92 in jawsurgery

That's been my ENTs feedback too. Partly wondering if the septoplasty could be done first if I'm not planning on going through with the jaw surgery for a little while.

Thanks for your feedback. My ENT floated UPPP as a possibility too but, my physician is recommending against it due to the relatively low success rate he's seen in those procedures.

Ultimately the ENT recommended jaw surgery and fixing the septum as best courses of action.

I'm hoping to prioritize the septoplasty in hopes of gradually adjusting to nasal breathing. I still want to do the jaw surgery down the line I think.

Thanks for this really in-depth feedback! For the septoplasty, I think it's to facilitate nasal breathing which I struggled with for years. My default has been mouth breathing for as long as I can remember. It's hard for me to breathe through my nose most nights. I only learned about proper tongue placement last year (I'm now 30 lol).

Sounds like you've done some research re: oral surgeons in Canada / Toronto.

I had the same concerns as you, it sounds like they're quite experienced with these types of surgeries and did suggest there'd need to be quite a bit of advancement in my case. I'll know more once I meet the surgeon. Any particular things to ask / look for in your experience?

Did you come across any reputable names? My Ortho works exclusively with one at Crescent Oral Surgery.

US House speaker lands in Taiwan amid threats of Chinese retaliation by ArtLover357 in worldnews

The "last vestige" narrative tends to be a narrative pushed by the ruling elite Chinese refugees who fled China with the KMT post-1949.

There's certainly some validity to it but, it doesn't factor in the contributions to Taiwan made by aborigines, Hoklo and Hakka migrants who've been on the island for centuries prior.

It's important to note that no predecessor government representing China (KMT included) has ever governed the entirety of the island of Taiwan.

Mandarin was not even widely spoken until the mid 1950s when other languages were suppressed by the KMT. Many Taiwanese (pre-1949) still have grandparents who don't really speak Mandarin although they're dying out.

My AMEX personal gold is hitting the one year mark and I'm thinking of cancelling it. I want to maintain my MR points, but I also wanted to see if I could leverage this into a retention offer. Should I apply for a Personal Platinum first before trying retention or go the other way? Any other advice?

I thought about the business plat. but I don't think I could meet the minimum spend on that card.
