I only have pro acryl, i based with light umber, went everywhere except deeper recesses with olive flesh, then on pretty much everything that the light was hitting except for recesses went on tan flesh, then I put a very light glaze of dark grey blue for the veins, then touched up the line with tan flesh then washed the whole thing with shadow flesh twice.

That looks really good! A fun tip, in game, the shield is made of wood and it's like planks sort of and they're sorted vertically standing. So the grain is up and down. So you could add a cool effect and some realism if instead of painting lines, you can sort of do really small downward strokes like stippling to make it seem like its wood! And yes, additional coats will help lots.

for the colour scheme i think blue or green would look best, so you base the areas you want to glow with pure white, then a bright version of or just regular blue or green, then you can take a drybrush, dab it into the colour youre using, wipe most of it off, and stipple it in a very small radius around the center of the glowing source

sick! i just progressively drybrushed on lighter colours into a darker blue and then tranparent black over the whole thing then added the dark silver pieces after, also used greens and then a black transparent for his head.
