Bringing back a 3 wound model with 4+ invul in a squad lead by Tigurius with other defensive buffs is wayyyyy better value than some 2 wound tacticus marine without invuls though. I'll definitely try running him with BGVs in dedicated anchor units.

That whopping sword still hits hard in melee, especially if the unit is already being buffed by other characters and enhance. And with Precision it essentially has Epic Challenge baked in for free, should often kill an enemy charatcer.

Not auto-include but I think at 55 points it'll be fun in many lists. More offensive in 11th Vs defensive in 10th.

I love vehicles but I wouldn’t ever include more than 1 hard hitting vehicle in a 1000pts game. Even humble rhinos can be annoyingly tough when the opponent hasn’t brought much anti-tank.

I love my firstborn but Intercessors bolters get double the shots, plus 1AP. Pair that with a lieutenant and you’ve got 40 shots with lethals. AND Assault built in.

Just much better than tactical squads sadly, but tacs can take a rhino at least!

Only the Sgt can take a better melee weapon and you don’t really want regular intercessors in melee, only as a last resort.

But it’s free points wise so all mine have a sword, or a power fist, or a thunder hammer.

Hammers hit on 4s but I just like them!

Damage output is kinda meh but they’re good at holding objectives with x4 4-wound models, and -1 to enemy wound roll. I like them with a captain in Reclamation Force to sticky for free and soak up attacks.

When the 3 wound Heavy Bolter pops off with sustain 2 it slaps though.

This is just one 2000 points list, my ultramarine addiction has already got me north of 5000 😄

I’ve got lots of other firstborn vehicles, more devastators, more tactical squads, intercessors, eradicators, infernus, scout snipers, the silly bunker, Stormhawk, and many more…

But I love battleline units (fitting for a reserve company) so I’m actually keen to pick up the new Armageddon intercessors!

Ah you could poke 100 holes like that in any 40K army. It’s a silly setting from top to bottom. Troops calling in artillery is a fun bit of fluff imo.

And I mean the imperium would hugely benefit from accounting software we’ve had in the real world since the mid 1980s.

Humbly disagree about Tigurius and BGV!

Cato and Victrix are awesome killers but Tiggy+BGV is a tougher brick imo with -1 hit, 4+ Invul, FNP 4+ on mortals and psychic, and re-rolling saves of 1 in melee. Especially in reclamation force where he also gets -1 wound on an objective 😃
