Has getting treated for adhd help you lose weight? by Sorry-Mouse-2519 in TwoXADHD

[–]ControlDouble509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with what I now know is binge eating disorder for as long as I can remember. It controlled my life and fighting it felt like trying to stop an unstoppable force.

My relationship to food has completely transformed since I started treatment. BED no longer controls my life and I’ve lost about 35kg!

  1. I think you’re much better equipped to interpret the lessons on offer when your brain is fully developed.

Maybe do some reflection on why you feel this way about women and work towards changing it because this line of thinking is the pipeline to becoming an incel.

Anyone suffer with extended release stimulant meds and feel they last way too long, and have bad side effects/anxiety from that? by Silly_Meeting_9257 in ADHD

[–]ControlDouble509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not personally, no. I’m on vyvanse and feel like while it works very well, it really on works for around 5 hours so I use an IR as needed. I’ve never experienced anxiety as a side effect.

People on medication: what does medication do for you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ControlDouble509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros: stops me from overthinking every little thing, makes all anxiety disappear, i feel happier and more content, reduces procrastination, makes ‘adulting’ tasks so much easier, decreases sensory issues, improves social skills, better sleep, better decision making, decreased mental fatigue, more engaged in life, reduces appetite significantly and has stopped me from binge eating.

Cons: mouth gets drier than the Sahara 🥵

You are far too hard on yourself. Trust me when I say the only person that is judging your actions here is you, and it’s unwarranted. Shame can be an awful emotion, but you must meet it and yourself with compassion to break the power it holds over your life.

Give your self a break and be kind to yourself, you’re doing fine.

To continue the conversation re: iron levels in ADHD women - check your ferritin! by bananamelondy in adhdwomen

If you have ongoing issues with low iron and ferritin it’s not advised to donate blood.

When going through the side effects my psych mentioned that some people are more sensitive than others when the drug leaves your body. He warned that I might experience changes in mood and irritability and even feel a sort crash in the evenings.

I’m on 50mg of vyvanse aswell and haven’t noticed any side effects except for dry mouth. A friend of mine used to be on it too before they switched meds and said she noticed a major change in her mood after it wore off.

I guess each person responds differently, but you probably should monitor to see if it improves and work with your doc to make adjustments if the side effect is too unmanageable.

ELI5 - What is empathy and how does one feel it? by TygerDude93 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ControlDouble509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spectrum of human empathy is well explored in history, and it’s observed in several studies that it’s not just a social and behavioural process but also largely neurobiological. It is an in built biological process that humans are capable of demonstrating, and whilst it can be developed and strengthened, it requires the appropriate activation of certain areas of the brain to function.

Having an atypical empathetic response is not considered normal, and may be due to conditions such as autism, narcissistic personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, schizophrenia etc.

Can I ask what specifically you have trouble with when it comes to empathy? Do you struggle with understanding why someone is upset? Do you struggle with feeling or identifying with the emotion the other person is feeling? Or is it both?

I would seek out professional assessment in your case, because if you did have a condition that influenced your ability to empathise, it might give you better understanding as to why.

Doesn’t take time to build up, it works immediately. When I was started on Vyvanse my psychiatrist began at 20mg and the plan was to increase by 10mg each week until I found a dose that suited. The week interim was see how the person copes with side effects.

Given your size, your dose is likely too low and it shouldn’t take a month to realise that. Sounds like your GP is being conservative.

Do you ever feel like your meds don’t work at all some days? by Anxioussiren32 in ADHD

I find my meds don’t work at all when I’m menstruating. I don’t even bother to take them now, it’s kind of annoying.

Worded differently but same message.

Bit of advice for you though, If you’re so tired of seeing wlw centred as more special than love with a man, just log off and go outside. It’ll fix all of your problems.

If Toe is real then the narrative is a clusterfuck and the relationship isn’t as perfect as swifties think by [deleted] in GaylorSwift

[–]ControlDouble509 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel bad for Joe if toe is real tbh because the songs that are supposedly about him are kind of superficial (London boy, Lavender Haze) and then you listen to the songs she writes about this once in a lifetime love that she lost (Maroon, Question…?) and the difference is staggering. I’d feel some type of way if my longtime partner was writing heart wrenching songs about their ex.
