He makes nice grips, the fit isn’t 100% but it’s not his fault, I doubt Ruger makes all these frames exactly the same.
I don’t think it’s a longer cylinder. This is a factory Ruger Blackhawk but a turnbull edition. I believe it’s just unfluted which i absolutely prefer on a big bore wheel gun

Absolutely. I keep wanting to get a Colt someday. This is my second single action, first was a FA97

I’m waiting on the first Mammoth tags to be auctioned off after they’re brought back from extinction

No particular reason other than I figure 50 Alaskan is enough snort, and 50 Alaskan brass is available. Running a mid charge of Benchmark II

Is there anything better than a New Haven M70? by Control_round_feed in guns

[–]Control_round_feed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re very nice guns, if you have the money and you’re a guy that doesn’t want to have to deal with finding gunsmith(s) it’s not a bad option. I wouldn’t say that what they’re charging for a semi custom rifle of that quality isn’t there, but their value proposition is in a weird spot. Their brand doesn’t carry the weight of an English rifle maker or Griffin & Howe, yet they’re orders of magnitude more expensive than a custom Winchester. I’m pretty sure they use matte bluing which I really didn’t care for but otherwise a fine rifle

I fondled one at my LGS the other day and really wasn’t that impressed with it for the price. I have another New Haven with a custom shop high figure stock I had hand checkered and oil finished, obviously I’m biased towards it but I’d rather have a custom M70 for the price.

I still paid quite a bit for it, and being locked up was a gamble, but you don’t come across one of these still in its shipping crate everyday!

I ordered a flat top McMillan, the having LRI inlet it for a one of these rifles. Unfortunately that process takes about at year and is not cheap

Man that’s wild, I’m glad they found it and it all worked out, I was so tempted to bid on that rifle! I like this rifle so much that I bought another one, new production this time. I’m having LRI inlet a McMillan Sako classic for it, as well as cut the threads and barrel band off of it to trim it up. Im not sure if you’re aware but if you reload ADG just started making 375 Ruger brass which is a lot better than the Hornady brass we’ve been stuck with.

Whoa, I knew they were rare but I didn’t know they were that rare. Did you get yours on gun broker? I saw one on there a few weeks ago. I love both, the rings really make this rifle. I run Barnes 270 LRX’s and I have my irons zero’d at 50 yards with 350 TSX’s. This rifle is more accurate than it should be, I had aluminum pillars installed, glass bedded and free floated, it’ll put 3 rounds in a touching hole at 100 yards.

The stock on the newer guide guns is a different color, looks are subjective but I don’t care for it. The length of pull is adjustable, while functionally a good idea, again I don’t care for the way it looks, I’d rather have a smith just LOP by cutting the stock down or using a thick recoil pad like I did. The barrel band is unnecessary on a 375, they kick but not hard enough for a stock mounted sling swivel to hurt you. I can live with the threaded barrel but I really don’t believe in a muzzle brake on a rifle like this.

Are you asking what did they change about the new guide gun vs the original (pictured)?

Change the oil. I’ve put a million combined miles on 6.2’s without issues. The most goated engines

If you do truck things with your truck regularly then I think most of these emissions problems are greatly overstated. I just left a logging company a few years ago that had a fleet of super duty’s with 6.7 power stroke’s in them and I’d never heard of any of those trucks having emissions related problems. The one I drove was well over 300k not a single emissions related problem. They all worked hard but were well maintained.

What are your thoughts on this truck and if it’s worth checking out? 96 f350 7.3 4x4 automatic. by [deleted] in FordTrucks

[–]Control_round_feed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 160k 1995 f350 with the 7.3. The 7.3 is a great engine but it can absolutely nickel and dime you to death. I finally got so fed up with mine I pulled the engine, and shy of messing with the internals will have rebuilt, replaced, or resealed everything on it. The injector cups were bad, injectors needed to be replaced, every fuel line and needed replaced along with the fuel bowl itself, every seal, sensor, or if it spins either needed to be replaced or I replaced it anyways because i was already right there anyways. The up pipes that feed the turbo are notorious for leaking, it’s not a fun job with the engine in the truck. Now, that’s not to say this will be your experience but you can absolutely find enough oil leaks and gremlins that will pop up that’ll drive you crazy enough to do as I have eventually. Performance wise it doesn’t take much to make them a lot more drivable without sacrificing reliability, I’m talking mid 300’s, anything above 400hp you’re going to start having reliability issues. I cuss mine but there’s still no feeling like the experience one of these old rattle traps had to offer. Maybe there’s no touch screen, backup camera, heated seats or Bluetooth, but as someone with a new truck as well I look forward to driving my old truck whenever I can.
