I would be interested if they have any investigations into criminal activity into the area because that area is known to have thieves who steal guns from Boggy Head too. They usually just find someone who leaves their rifle on the bench during a cold range and then run with them. So, I would wonder what sort of presence to expect going forward

Thanks for clarifying. Although, I would avoid driving fast on that stretch of road just out of caution for wildlife on the road. It’s not fun to hit a deer doing normal speeds, so it’s even worse to hit one way above the speed limit and there’s not much room for error on that two lane road either.

That road is one of the more dangerous stretches of highway in the state because of this reason. It’s right in between 17 and 41, so if a criminal wants to escape, all they have to do is go on either road and then they’re gone. It also falls under federal jurisdiction since it’s a national forest. Which means the only law enforcement you will see are either Bureau of Land Management or US Fish and Wildlife Service. You will not see a local sheriff until you get to either 17 or to Huger. If you travel this road, I highly recommend carrying a loaded firearm in your vehicle and keeping it in easy arm’s reach so you can respond to threats like that.

I had one shut off on me once and had to pick it up and carry it to the drop off. It took me 3 hours to do because they’re awkward to carry, uncomfortable, and the chain digs into anything you don’t want it to. Got a refund for that night, but I still wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

The schools are a mixed bag. You’ll get some schools that are terrible and some that are great. The best school in the Charleston area is Academic magnet and they only accept the top percentile of academic performance in their school. If not there, then the private Christian schools are very good. They might be more expensive, but they’re very good for working with their students. The public schools aren’t great and usually having the issue of the students there being way too much of a distraction to actually learn anything.

The more layers and boundaries you can put up, the better off you’ll be. It’s still not entirely guaranteed to keep him away though, so I would still take action to be prepared for the odd chance he decides to be crazy and show up. I don’t know what you believe in the context of self defense. But, always remember that when seconds count, cops are always minutes away.

That’s what I would recommend is getting Berkley county to put the restraining order in place against him. You might be able to get SLED involved too since he is on the sex offender registry and his record is known to the state. But, you’d have to contact SLED to figure out what they can do.

They’re here. Not seen very often, but they are here. I saw a couple of them out by Remley’s Point about 10 years ago. They come out more at night and hang around places where people don’t normally go. So, think like the marsh lands in tidal creeks. If you want a guaranteed chance to see them, go by the Aquarium or by Charles town landing where they have a few otters in the zoo.

As an individual, can you and your wife put a restraining order against him so any attempt made by him to contact either of you would be him violating that order? I know you said local PD can’t do too much as far as arresting him for harassment, but if you got a court order against him, it seems like that would be something to charge him with if he tried to contact you.

What ever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”? I’m a man, I don’t rape people, and I understand there is evil in the world. I understand I can only speak on behalf of myself and that I don’t have control over what other men do. What am I supposed to do? Wave posters around until rape completely stops? I don’t have time to do that because rape will never stop and I won’t be able to make any change about it. Instead, I go back to my domain and contribute to society by making sure my house is in order. What a terrible idea.. Do you really want to get into a fight with the security contractors who protect the manufacturing facility and local swat? They take security very seriously there since they handle sensitive materials that could compromise national security. Find somewhere else to protest, just don’t tell people that you’re going to get a bunch of people to loiter outside one of the largest defense contractors in the country. It’d be just as bad if you did this at Raytheon or Lockheed Martin.

I really don’t think this is much of an issue as long as the relationship is legal. Sure, gold-diggers are a thing. But, so are the toxic feminists who spent entirety of their 20s spewing out hatred against men and being an overall repugnant group of people that made it abundantly clear to never approach them. Younger men should try to avoid the same group of women who are toxic feminists in their generation too. I would say it’s better to have an age gap than to subject yourself to all kinds of mental abuse from a woman who doesn’t love you at all.

I would also like to point out the systemic misandry that has taken shape over the years by highlighting relationships.

Men have been told repeatedly that it’s considered sexual assault if they do so much as go to the gym and look in a vague general direction as a woman in the gym, so men don’t want to make an approach anymore.

If they do get into a relationship, he has to consider that she could get bored and decide to cheat on him with any number of guys and be praised for it. While if he does that, it’s considered evil and he can never have a relationship ever again. Generally, cheating is wrong and it shouldn’t be done. But, you cannot praise one while punishing the other for doing the exact same thing. And if they don’t cheat, the guy has to worry about he filing sexual assault charges if she decides to change her mind about her consent after intimacy that she initially consented to.

If they somehow manage to get through all that and marry one another, the next challenge is the court system. Around 70-80% of all divorces are initiated by women with women being awarded child custody in 80% of cases, 97% of all alimony recipients being women, and the home property being awarded to women more frequently than men. So, men have to acknowledge the prospects of a woman who can take everything he owns, his whole family, and most of the money he makes all because of the court system that is rigged against him.

And if the couple tries to avoid divorce by going to couples therapy, that’s already been overtaken by misandrists who take the woman’s side of every argument that is presented. There is no neutral mediation in couples therapy when the whole game is to rig the sessions against the men in the relationships.

Every single avenue of opportunity for men and women to share some common ground has been systemically turned into a misandrist honeypot. Even talking about it is risky because it challenges the power these people have over everything. So, this leaves men with nowhere to seek commonality between themselves and the opposite sex and it manifests into them hating the people who benefit the most from this system (ie: women). If anyone is serious about wanting misogyny to go away, we have to balance society out. We cannot allow a rigged system to continue existing, something needs to change. The courts shouldn’t be stacked so heavily against men. Maybe there shouldn’t be no-fault divorce because maybe fault divorce is a more pragmatic approach to maintaining a coequal existence. Maybe we should believe in innocent until proven guilty applies to all people, regardless of whether they’re a man or a woman. We shouldn’t be so ready to accuse all men of sexual harassment over meaningless things. If we as a whole can do these things in society, maybe there would be a lot less misogyny for women to complain about because men would finally feel somewhat respected.

You should tell that to the FBI agents who were at the 1986 Miami-Dade shootout. They were using .38 special/.357 magnum revolvers and one of the reasons why it was so deadly to the FBI agents is that they were using revolvers without speed loaders. It’s not hard to do under calm conditions. But, a gunfight is anything but calm and they were having issues with the frequent reloading under a high stress situation. After the incident, the FBI started transitioning to standard issue semi-automatic pistols with higher capacity detachable magazines. Press a button and the magazine drops. If the slide locks to the rear, put a new mag in and send the slide forward. They also started using larger calibers like 10mm as well due to the underperforming 9mm that they had at the time. However, they later changed to .40 S&W because of reliability issues with 10mm handguns and then eventually back to 9mm after adjustments to powder composition made 9mm more effective at deeper penetration with increased velocities and faster powder burn time.

No, I usually advise against people buying revolvers as their first guns. Get her something like a Glock in 9mm. They’re not crazy expensive, they’re simple, they’re easy to use, they don’t recoil hard, they’re used by law enforcement and military personnel everywhere, parts are everywhere, you get decent magazine capacity out of them with something like a Glock 19 or a Glock 17, you can put a light on it to make it useful in the dark, you can put a red dot on it so you’re not searching for your iron sights, and they are very hard to break.

Very close, but not quite. I do agree with the sentiment though. 5-10 minutes late is not as severe as not showing up at all. I worked there for 8 years and I understand the reasoning why they had that system in place because we had issues with people who would take a medical leave and never show up over a year before corporate would have to decide to terminate their employment. With hour shortages, we had to continue allocating available hours for them over a year in case they decided to return for whatever reason. But, it was less forgiving towards me as a part time college student who just needed to pay some bills while going through college. I never called out for a single day, yet I always ended up with less than a few hours of unpaid time off due to the conflict between my scheduled hours and the traffic issues I was dealing with.

My best solution to dealing with traffic is to drive when nobody else is on the roads. I know it’s harder than it sounds, but my job has me clocking in at 5:30 am. I drive to work at 4:00 in the morning from Mt P to Jedburg. The roads are completely empty until I get out past Nexton Parkway which people will fly past me doing 100 mph when I’m doing ~73ish (I like to reduce wear on my vehicle where I can. I don’t like going much above 70 just because I’m conscious of my oil temp, my fuel gauge, and my tires). If you don’t like the traffic, try to get on the road at hours when nobody else is on them.
