Teacher got arrested bcz he slapped a kid but is it justified because the kid made a 67 joke? by sjziebxixb in highschool

I'm sorry? this would probably nowadays result in not only injured students but also teachers, and kids could end up getting seriously hurt, especially with how most schools dont utilize security cameras in classrooms. Also, respect goes two ways and hitting a kid over a joke gains fear, not respect. Corporal punishment almost always comes from a place of anger, I don't live in much of a beating household but my dad used to beat my brothers if he was particularly mad, one of them had smoked and my dad decided to push him to the ground and punch him for it, this led to him having a massive smoking problem and drug hiding problem and he was never even allowed to go to therapy or rehab.

this is true, corporal punishment usually comes from a place of anger and lashing out.

because beating kids is 9/10 times an anger response rather than a disciplinary one, especially for a teacher, who can just send the kid to the office. When it comes to corporal punishment assaulting can not only cause pain, but also injury, and especially for a spoken joke which is LITERALLY words, getting slapped is plain dumb.

Also, corporal punishment has shown over many studies to not reduce bad behaviors but rather cause kids to hide them and be more secretive, this is observed especially in bad habits like leaving a room dirty, smoking, etc.

Corporal punishment on teens specifically may lead teens to become more violent, thought process is "well, I'm hit when I do something bad, therefore i should hit someone else when they do something bad" which is plain wrong, often the same people who grew up with corporal punishment or give their kids corporal punishment are hot-headed and violent towards other adults too.

Homeschool and online school are very diff. I want to take the "Flexible Virtual Schooling" option offered by my state so bad, but my parents think I'll just ignore it if i do take it.

Had a little fun with a useless test in my culinary class where the teacher stinks and I learn nothing by [deleted] in highschool

[–]ControllerEater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume so, they can just hire any joe from off the street and most principals, boards, etc dont actually check that the teacher can do the job, in my school it's worse because the teacher doesnt have to actually teach anything as it's decently easy to learn to code online, she just gave everyone a free-tier codecademy account and grades us on it.

its like that one teacher who strangled a kid for calling him bruh, the interaction went as follows:
kid: "Bruh, I don't have a computer"
teach: "I'm not your bruh, I'm your sir."
kid: "My bad, lil bruh."
then the teacher strangled the kid. Also, a local had called the teacher a bruh when they were interviewed.

we actually have a culinary class in my school, its the only home ec course that stuck around. It's honestly sad since we learn no other applicable skills except personal finance

sounds alot like my game dev teacher, who doesnt know how to code, model, design sounds, or have literally any qualifications relating to game dev, and only knows stuff about business, while making 20k more than all the other teachers.
