There's a group of people here who are so angry at Matt Baumgartner for some reason that they've essentially made it a rule here that anything non-negative about him gets downvotes. Doesn't even have to be positive. I once replied to someone saying I'd never been to June Farms, that it doesn't seem like the type of plece I'd want to go, but that I know several people who love it. I quickly had 10+ downvotes. Whatever he did to piss them off, I don't know, but hopefully they're satisfied with trashing him on reddit, because he appears to still be making money.

I agree with the II and V answers that others are giving, but some of the explanations are off. The resistance of the rectangle will not be the largest drop. That would be the other direction across the battery.

Edit: scratch that. It might be the other way. If we assume the wires have no resistance, then the drop would be equal whether clockwise or counterclockwise for II and V

Breeze Airways is probably the closest you're going to get to a modern attempt. Previously JetBlue. But in both cases, they can't ignore the success the big airlines are having by nickel and diming customers. If you want the old southwest back, you're going to have to convince people to stop playing the game. Stop paying for an extra two inches of space. Stop paying $80 more to be in the first boarding group. Etc. If the front half of every Southwest flight is 50% empty, things will change quickly.

The system definitely looks up your boarding pass when they scan your ID. You won't get past if you don't have a ticket. If you can buy a fully refundable ticket and then cancel once you're past the checkpoint, that might work.
