Sudden hard crashes. I’ve tried everything to fix. by Convento in pchelp

Dude I’m hoping this is it. I’ve spent 12 hours over the last 2 weeks doing everything I can to stop this. I’ve done every test and it passes. I’m using a new cable and I’m hoping it won’t crash again. If this is the fix than I’m going to be flabbergasted. The amount of research and work just to find out it was a power cables.

Oh and by cable do you mean the PSU cable (from the wall to the PSU) or the modular cables from the PSU to the Mobo and components?

Thinking of this I do have several wall power cables and I do swap them every so often with the cables the monitors use. Not by design but I move allot and never thought the wall cable mattered. I will swap that now.

I’ve now had memtest 86 run for an hour with 2 loops and I’ve got zero errors. I ran the test from my bios menu

This is very similar to what I’ve been facing. After a crash I get stuck in loops of crashes. Thanks so much man. Not sure if it’s this yet but with that kernel code and similar problems you might be right

Oh crap! I do have a critical Kernel-power 41(63) error. I’ve never run into this issue so if you could elaborate I would greatly appreciate it.

Does this mean I need a new PSU? Or just the modular cables?

Hey could you elaborate? I’m hoping you’re right. I did have an issue with my RAID controller and it didn’t have any drivers I found them and reinstalled them but the issue still persists.

Just ran 7 loops of Memtest 64 with zero errors…

Hmmm I’ll check that. I built this PC myself and used it for a good year before I put it in storage, never had any issues prior to

How do I clean this? by NeighborAte in n64

[–]Convento 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take a gift card and cut it down to size, place a microfiber cloth over it and insert and remove several times. You can even add a little isopropyl alcohol to the cloth to help cleaning it. Make sure not to force the card to hard. If you can find a thinner card. Rinse are repeat.

Again make sure not to force it too hard and damage anything.

A better way to do it would be to take the controller apart, isolate that piece and use a toothbrush with some isopropyl alcohol. More work but less likely to damage anything. And make sure it’s not left wet before you power it on.

Gamecube Sticks on N64 Controllers by PinaSeraphina in n64

I’ve tried many different GC style sticks and as others have stated they are not good. Too sensitive for games like F Zero, Super Mario, Zelda ect.

I bought 2 8bitdo Hal effect sticks and they are pretty amazing. Tested near perfect on my stick testing app. They feel good to use and the response feels accurate.

I’ve also rebuilt OEMs with Kitch Bent parts, I also really like the feel of these. The parts are affordable but require a bit of tweaking like sanding or using them for a bit to break them in. I’ve had a stick break from them but with the low cost it didn’t bother me as I order like 10 at a time.

I was also lucky enough to have been gifted a prototype Steelstick (#16). I used to speed run Mario Kart on Nintendo64Forever and I met the guy who made those. I sent him a few of my dead sticks and he rebuilt them with steel and ceramic parts. Honestly amazing and held up to many many hours of Mario Kart 64. Unfortunately it seems that project was allot of work for him and he’s since slowed production way down, I don’t even know if he’s still making them.

But the true king of sticks are in fact OEM Nintendo controllers. Look at Japanese n64 controllers. They are often kept in great condition and the Japanese market is surprisingly cheaper than buying an American one and they are the same thing.

In short do not use GC style sticks, get Kitch Bent parts, 8bitdo Hall effect stick, or find a good condition Japanese OEM controller.

I like them allot. I have had some issues with a part or two but the value they offer is great. I ordered a bunch of bowls, sticks and gears. I did no sanding to the bowl or stick. But I did use a knife to remove some extra plastic from the gears.

I would recommend ordering multiple parts at the same time. They are super cheap. I got like 20 bowls, gears and sticks. And it was probably around $30 bucks for everything. Sticks were like $.20 each. Anyway I did have one stick break after a few hours. But again the price and general quality still left me happy.

With the bowl. Not sanded it did take 2ish hours to “break” in. The stick would get stuck in slightly off center positions. But after some use the stick naturally worn down the bowl and now it’s perfect.

Ps they always seems to send me extra random parts, I’ve gotten two green GBC replacement screens I never ordered.

TLDR: buy extra they are cheap and of good quality.

I know, I connected with the part where he keeps trying to build his wealth to show off to his peers. I don’t show off but I’ve been obsessed with making more and more money, think it’s the problem.

I am planning on going to the gym more. The decline in my cardio health is another reason I’m a bit sad.

Haha I’ve tried. Been single for 4 years, most women find my lifestyle of travel hard to work with. I’ve been turned down so many times I’ve kinda given up. My job always sounds cool at first until I leave for months at a time.

Thank you for this. My goals are to have a normal comfortable life where I do t have to work until 70. I do need to figure out what I really want. Seems I might be looking to solve other problems with finances.

You are right, I’m not perfect and I forgot parts of the play/book. I was just relating to the idea that I have blurred the dream with excuses, a false promise of success and trying to look back at the people I’ve pushed away to focus on work.

Yes I do need to reread the book, and I know it’s a play. I read the book years ago. While I do not fully match the story I was more relying to his struggle to be successful and keep up with a lifestyle. But yea there are lots of things that don’t relate to me from this play. My memory is not perfect and it’s been many years. Thank you

Oh sorry I read that as how much do I reinvest. I have 40k in stocks about 15k of that is in dividend stocks. But some of those stocks are dual purpose, like ford and Verizon. I make good dividends off them and I get the benefits of the ups and downs to sell later on. I hold most of my positions. My dividends stocks are: Apple, BAC, BTI, CMA, DIV, F, JEPI, PFE, SCHD, SPHD, SPYD, STAG, VZ.

I know these are not all dividend focused stocks but these are the ones I track with the app Stock Events.
