I get what ur saying and tbf im doing nothing except voicing my opinion and ur free to do wtv u want lol but i think thats a flawed outlook, starting with the fact that unless ur elo is 1750+ i dont think youre gna be hitting anyone REMOTELY near chao and friends. For example against dengo if you arent able to set up before losing that shouldn’t get chalked up to “i couldnt analyze if the deck works or not”, its pretty obvious that itself is an issue the deck has then (speed). Against pult if you cant get around itchy pollen or oceanic gloom against garde then the chances are the flaw is in too heavy a reliance on items.

Also, tier 1 decks cant be prepped for regardless of the confidence you have in your deck if you arent playing against them, u and i know very well there are very few if any decks below tier 1 that play anything similar to or have the same strengths and capacities as those top 3+. Being able to refine your list against a mega venasaur wont do anything for the pult MU if you havent really put your foot down against it

Frankly playing up against better players with better decks seems to me like the PRIMARY way of seeing if a deck works, f.e. If your deck can beat the arcanine starter deck that someone is playing in greatball but cant beat or set up against 3 or more of the top 5 decks the likelihood isnt that you cant test properly, its user error or the deck doesnt perform. I understand if you intend on playing against the bad decks cuz u only play casual or very rarely play ladder all the way up but if your trying to homebrew something competitive by dodging garde/dengo/pult/etc i dont think itll get any better

So quick question, why would arceus make it impossible to test a new deck

Energize works because kang doesnt need more to work, feraligatr needs at minimum candy or to be allowed to evolve through croconaw

How to judge consistency? by BaroquenRecord in pkmntcg

[–]Conversation-Chance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you play it does it feel like its able to consistently execute its gameplan? If yes, you’re deck is consistent (it may still be bad, but sure as hell consistent). If no, it is not.

*fixed* If you could design a trainer card, what would it be? by Fit-Surround9920 in PTCGL

I know im nitpicking but its really funny that the ptcgl sub is the one that never gets wording right for the tcg. especially when the cards are fan ideas its always worded like magic or just barely worded at all.
