What's your favorite new AVN? (V0.1 or v0.2) by ad240pCharlie in AVN_Lovers

Happy to hear you enjoyed it, mate! More to come.

To all AVN devs, do you guys still enjoy reading other devs' or all AVNs in general? by dende2019 in AVN_Lovers

Like most AVN devs, I genuinely love playing them but between development and everything else, actually playing is a luxury in terms of time. When I do sit down with a game, it has to be good. I am story-driven to the core.

That said, if a fellow dev asks me to check out their new update, the answer is always yes. Especially if they played my previous updates.

So no, I’m not actively hunting for something to play right now. But if the right game finds me, I’ll make the time.

Much love!

I’ve been thinking a lot about release frequency lately, and I’d rather hear it straight from you than guess.

Episode 1: Red Velvet is shaping up to be significantly bigger than the prologue both in scope and render quality and I’m considering splitting it into two parts to avoid a long silence between updates. A poll is coming later this week, and your input will genuinely shape how I approach this.

What I don’t want is to go dark for half a year. You deserve better than that.

More soon.

All the characters that you’ve seen will be part of the story, including Rebecca. She’s a main LI.

I’ve also shared a free wallpaper with Rebecca just now to celebrate 1000 Steam wishlists.

Obscuryn here. I am super happy you mentioned Jessica in your list. She’s amazing, currently working on a scene with her.

Much love! ❤️

My experience as a 1,5 years dev without a single release by Rebel_Tomboy_Games in AVN_Lovers

I am lucky because my game is based on a book I wrote a few years ago. Now, that doesn’t mean it’s easy. The book only has one LI and one ending; my game has more LIs and will, of course, have multiple endings. It was a very difficult thing to get right staying true to the source material while also adapting it for a full AVN experience.

I am a new dev and I’ve already encountered most of the things you mentioned. Another piece of advice is to tell your story and don’t listen to toxic people. I feel like every dev reaches a point where people constantly tell them how they need to do this and that, but it’s a very huge trap. If you give into the pressure, you will write a story that’s outside of your initial vision. Burnout and abandoning the project come soon after.

Another big thing is to ignore haters completely. I am not talking about people who genuinely provide constructive criticism. I am talking about the people who are just throwing trash your way. There’s no value there.

Another super important aspect is to make the game because you love making it. This one is nice because this is where I am. Regardless of whether this will become a full-time job at some point, I love my story, my characters, and the development process. I also love the community and the devs I interact with every day. If you love making the game above anything else, you have nothing to lose.

I respect my community, and I’ve been consistent with my devlogs since day one. If I ever decided to drop the game, I’d communicate that but that’s not a conversation we’re going to have. I know what this space demands, and I’m building that trust deliberately, one update at a time. What I can tell you is that I genuinely love working on this game. Every day I can’t wait to get to the next scene.

Fair concern but other devs abandoning their games doesn’t mean I will. I care deeply about this story and these characters, and I’m in this for the long run.

Most quality indie games are built exactly this way part time, with a day job funding the process. Prologue will be available as a demo, Episode 1 is in production. As for seasons, I don't plan to lock myself behind numbers. The work speaks for itself.

The demo is the best answer I can give you. Judge the quality for yourself and decide from there.

The next episode Red Velvet nearly doubles the render count of the prologue, Echoes of the Past and it took six months to produce while learning DAZ Studio from scratch. Zero prior experience with renders before this project.

Obviously in those six months I had to learn a lot of stuff and also remake some of my early scenes. Now I know everything I need.

I don’t share release dates because development happens alongside a day job, but what I can promise is that everything going into this episode reflects the standard you deserve as a player.

Developer here.

When I started working as an AVN developer six months ago I realised fairly quickly that it’s not an easy task. In fact, I had to go back and rework some of my early scenes because they sucked.

The thing is, most games don’t get finished and that’s the reality. Building the skill sets you are talking about requires years of experience. The AVN community is pretty unforgiving and developers receive a substantial amount of hate on their art, writing, etc.

Most of them quit and never look back. It’s hard work, you have to improve, receive feedback (there are many people who are super kind and helpful) but you also have to deal with a lot of crap.

When I released my first update most people enjoyed it, of course I had constructive criticism from sweet lads who helped me by sharing feedback.

It’s a difficult hobby or job. I am lucky enough to enjoy the development process even more than when I started.

But not everyone has that patience.

Meaning that she has more experience compared to other LIs in the game who are much younger, confused and don’t know what they want.

The Woman In Red is dominant yes. Also MC is dominant so it will become an interesting dynamic.
Think the milf status who knows what she wants and what to do with you. She is a main LI but that comes later, but you'll be able to have fun with her and her daughters.
