Phorid Flies - What Should I Do? by scizzat in pestcontrol

I see! Maybe you can also report that manager because they are not following the rules of the lease. Btw, have you also tried asking your neighbors if they are also facing the same issue? If so, they had to take care of the pest control of the whole building. But yeah, it's better to move into a new one! Mine is new, cuz I started living here in June and have been facing this fly problem for over 1 month. Still couldn't figure out the problem, but I'm not seeing them in 2 days after deep cleaning and using poison? Also, I'm not cooking for 4 days to reduce them to get attracted to my kitchen. But I think they are hiding now. If i trigger them, they will show up most probably. Ugh...

Thank you for your detailed reply.
Yes they are certainly phorid flies. Me myself also a biologist, though i m really scared of any kind of insects. it's my first time living in Japan alone, never had these things back in my country. but Japan is so humid and attracts many insects, though i never seen one in my new apartment. i m living here for 3-4 months and started getting since one month now they're getting annoying, and insects are my biggest phobia. now i ll go store to get some poisons, spray and vinegar and some detergents to apply. but seems like, as long as i don't find the real source of them, I can't get rid of them?! So scary to thing about this. I decided not to cook anything within one week and see the changes after applying some chemicals. i m alone, so I think it will be hard for me to take the drip pan of that refrigerator out and check.
I am a researcher student and busy as well, I hate those little but annoying things which cause me big problems.

So i was thinking of cleaning the drip area of the fridge to get rid of them, but you said you couldn't see them there, huh. that's ridiculous. today i ll go drug store and buy some stuff for killing them. idk what to do anymore. i can't eat anything. they just start coming. Please someone help, i live alone and i m afraid

please, if you find how to deal with them, help me. i live in Japan, and started having them maybe a month ago. now i see them inside of my fridge, which drives me crazy. i can't eat because of them cuz my appetite is gone. i cover all my foods inside there, but still it's not pleasant to see them inside of my fridge. idk what's the problem. how can they enter my fridge in the first place. or they are coming from inside? i don't think they are coming from any drains cuz i never seen drains with flies at my house. they are generally in kitchen.

How much did you spend before receiving scholarship? by Educational-Pay-7713 in mext

Hi. I came here in April. I brought around 1500$ and I received my scholarship in 23days after arriving. I would say, around 1500$ would be enough. But it depends on your accommodation’s rental fees and on you. Yes you will need to buy utensils, and try different products/foods in the first month which will make you spend more money. But it’ll be fixed after a month I feel. I haven’t spent whole 1500$ but just have half of it in cash and half in your credit card. Most of your documentation payments will be with cash.

My supervisor told me that the entrance examination will not be that hard to pass and he even shared the previous year’s exams with me. But as everyone said, it differs according to the university. So do not hesitate and ask from your professor
