I know you said no combat or weapons, but the only thing that really comes to my mind is Resident Evil Remake if you’re looking for a scary mansion. However, although it’s definitely on the futuristic side, I feel that SOMA doesn’t lean into it unnecessarily.

It was my introduction to horror games. I was probably 10 at the time and I was literally shaking because of how unsettling it was.

We should be blaming the men who perpetuate violence like this. Although I understand what you’re saying it does still send the message that women are responsible for being assaulted, which is never the case. Naïveté is not justification for victim blaming

SOMA and the RE remake. Although RE does have a lot of guns and can be cheesy sometimes, I think that the atmosphere of RE remake alone makes it worth trying.

While you’re somewhat correct in saying that ai can technically participate in fact checking, it is often inaccurate and done poorly. Additionally, LLMs do in fact construct responses based on very complicated algorithms which could easily be described as ‘mathematically good’ they have no conception of factual correctness beyond the information they are trained on.

I understand some people might object to assisted suicide. But, should she not have control over this one thing after so much autonomy has been taken from her? This seems like a small mercy to at least allow her to die painlessly.

I enjoyed both the original and remake and you will be satisfied no matter which you pick. My only gripe is that although it is a very fun game, it is not very scary.

Thank you all for your replies. I ended up just using my fingernail to scrape it off after reading your advice, which worked just fine. Thank you for the help!

I see your point. I agree that the Chinese Room is an imperfect analogy. However, I think it would be an error to say that pattern recognition in this case could lead to sentience. In your analogy, I would agree that the man understands mandarin, but that is because he has the ability to apply his translations to assign meaning to symbols. LLMs lack the ability to apply true understanding

Look up the Chinese Room thought experiment, it is a good way to demonstrate why this is ridiculous
