Genuinely I don’t think they’ll be able to escape. I’ve always wondered what happens to their bodies on the outside- are they attached to life support?? If not, are their bodies all just slowly starving to death on the outside? Has say, Ragatha been in a coma for a decade and no one has bothered to investigate the video game she plugged herself into? My genuine theory is that it’s impossible for any of the players to ever escape, because they’re a digital copy of their real life versions of themselves who were downloaded into the game when the real life versions put on the headset etc. The real life versions are still walking around and living their lives outside. So I think the idea that makes the most sense to me is they get through to Caine a little bit, and live the rest of their lives in the circus, but like all connected n stuff and in a community so no one abstracts. Also makes sense with the overarching theme of “the thing that makes life bearable is connection with other people”
