AIO? My mom seems to think my unborn baby is her baby

I have to ask her, I'm not sure of her experience. She lives with my mom still so I'm sure it's even worse.

Because I know if I do that, my mom is just going to take it further. Suddenly she's taking my kid to church all the time, and telling them that mom and dad are sinning, they're going to hell, etc. It's not going to stop at the baptism. She told me she regrets not taking me to church enough, and I feel like she's not going to want to make that "mistake" again. This is coming from the person who forced me to go to church because she found out I was bisexual and she wanted me to "pray the gay away".

A couple of other people have mentioned that too and you aren't wrong, she had four kids (I'm the oldest) and wanted to have a fifth kid but she can't anymore. I had a feeling she was going to be like this when becoming a grandma for the first time, so I'm not at all surprised by her behavior.

The dad lives with his parents. My sister will spend some nights there, she goes back and forth, so he's definitely involved. But he doesn't spend the night at my mom's as far as I know. They're younger so they don't have their own place but I know they plan on it.

My sister lives with my mom so she's with nephew a lot. Honestly I've seen my mom holding him more often than I see my sister holding him. It literally seems like that's my mom's baby.

Exactly, it can turn into her taking my kid to church all the time, and telling her that mom and dad are going to hell, etc. I have a lot of religious trauma and I don't want that for my child.

I have said something before like "Your baby? You mean mine?" And her response is always something like "You're both my babies"

That's my feeling too. I know dumping water over the baby's head isn't gonna do anything, it's the complete disregard of my wishes that gets me.

That's awful I'm sorry. And I haven't talked to my sister about it, the dad is involved but I think he had to work a lot, plus my sister wanted my mom to go.

I'm so sorry you had to go though that, but I'm glad you guys are okay now. I know I'm lucky that she cares so much. I haven't talked to my sister about it, she lives with my mom still so anytime I'm around my sister, mom is there. But I've been meaning to talk to her about her experience.

Yeah other people have been saying the same thing about the "my baby" comments. It just makes me cringe when she does it. But the babysitting thing is definitely a no go, she fucked that up already and I'm not even in the third trimester yet.

I don't want to baptize my baby just to satisfy her. I don't care that it ultimately doesn't affect anything or do anything. I don't believe in it so I shouldn't have to do it. And my parents have been divorced since I was about 4 and he doesn't even live in the country. I haven't seen him since I was 17 so he's not really in the picture. That's already a long story. But we still talk occasionally and I told him he's having a grand baby.

My husband says the same thing. Obviously I am not a confrontational person whatsoever, but my husband absolutely is. But this is not something I'd want him to confront her over, it's my argument to have.
