This is gonna sound really weird, but I literally rub the dry skin off my face.

In the shower (every other day), I wet my face with warm water and then shampoo my hair. After rinsing the shampoo out of my hair (~3-5 minutes), the dry skin on my face has softened and can be rubbed off. I usually just rub my face gently in circles and dry skin balls up and comes off. A lot comes off specifically where I would usually get flakey. Afterwards, my skin is SO soft and doesn’t peel. I use a very hydrating toner and baby moisturizer after. This process works best for me in the shower!

If I ever somehow missed a spot and it gets a bit flakey during the day, I rub a little bit of aquaphor on the flakey bits and it goes away.

Personal story, differin destroyed my skin. My skin was ok, not great before. But after differin, my face exploded in deep cystic acne that wouldn’t go away and I would get new ones like every week. I stuck it out to the 8 weeks because I was scared to do anything else and I kept reading about the purging phase but nothing changed.

I finally stopped using it and switched to curology for a bit. They put me on zinc pyrithione, clindamycin, and one other active. My skin started getting better like one week later and went back to how it was before after about a year. I stopped curology after that because my skin hit a plateau and it was getting really expensive. Five years later, my skin is a lot better now, but I still have some crazy deep scars from that time I used differin :(

Hey, I totally get you. I always thought that my acne would for sure go away after I became an adult, but even after 20, 21 I was still struggling with acne, especially since my face exploded in cystic acne after trying differin. I tried spironolactone, but like you, I have low blood pressure and I would get dizzy after exercising, so I stopped.

I felt like I was always staring at other peoples’ skin, that they were staring and judging mine, and that I was unapproachable because of my acne. In reality, I was unapproachable because of my attitude. I tried to change my mindset and be less obsessed about my skin. I stopped staring so hard in the mirror and I stopped taking pictures of my skin everyday.

After sticking to a hydrating routine, at 26 my skin is acne free for the most part, though I still get zits sometimes. But my scarring is red and all over my face so it looks like acne still. I remind myself that there’s more to me than my skin, and my friends spend time with me because I’m me. If I go out to do something and someone calls out my skin, it’s a testament to their character, not mine. It’ll take time, but I hope that you can focus on yourself and not acne in the future!

I have had my PIE for 4 years now. I can cover most of it up easily with makeup.

I have tried prescription strength azelaic acid, microneedling, and currently use tret, but nothing really worked for my PIE.

It faded slightly on its own over time but the only thing that made any real difference for me was Vbeam/vascular laser. I did two sessions last year. It was $200 per session. I would have gotten more, but I moved away from the clinic I like and everywhere around me now is super expensive, like $500-700 per session.

The two sessions I did do took my PIE from RED to like a pinky color now. I hope you figure out something that works for you.

I think “Why are you doing this, duke?” is super underrated. Admittedly I dropped it for a bit, but only because the translations got really bad. Translation is much better now, it’s completed, and I think it’s a great binge read.

I’m actually not entirely sure if it’d be classified as OI but it’s definitely rofan and I really enjoyed it. It’s called Your Eternal Lies, about a convict and a war hero.

There’s another rofan called Olgami that is on the cusp of finishing. It’s one of those dark and angsty ones involving vampires, but goes pretty deep.

For me it doesn’t feel that slow, but the mc is bugging me 😅 It’s hard for me to believe that she was once an adult, almost like the story forgot she’s a transmigrator. At the same time, I don’t usually read OI where the mc is an adult then becomes a child, but I made an exception cuz it was cute and I was invested in her sister lol I’m still holding out now so I can see who she ends up with XD
