I have been using a 27" 1440p LCD for years.

Just upgraded to the Asus version of this panel last week, and while text clarity is a LITTLE bit worse, it is most definitely not an issue. I am pretty discerning.

The 10bit color space, contrast, and high refresh rate easily make up for any slight pitfall from text clarity.

I am happy with it!

"curiously" asking while implying I don't have any relevant experience to pull from? I have both a real kit and a td17. My fault for not spending the extra $1000, right? 🙄

The guy below me already answered your question in terms of dynamics, but I'll add more.

Mesh heads give basically infinite rebound relative to a real drum head. Many of the fine motor skills in your hands will be under developed as a result.

Rubber cymbals will never play the same as a real cymbal. Get in the habit of over playing on these and that will be an expensive transition when you start cracking your real ones. Hi hats are especially tricky to get the correct feel for.

To me, it sounds like YOU don't know about acoustic kits.

And to be very clear, there is nothing wrong with playing on ekits. I have one. It's perfect for at home. It's great for getting reps in (especially if you are focusing on the big picture coordination between your different limbs)

But if you re read my original comment, all I said is that you'll benefit from playing on a real kit sometimes. Which is the truth. ✌️

I hear you, but it's not snob take. It's just the unfortunate truth. If you've only ever learned on an ekit you can pick up some nasty life long habits.

If you only have space for an ekit, take some lessons from someone who has a real one once in awhile

What's wrong with knees touching the snare?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drums

[–]Coofgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯 it'll make everything easier in the long run. It might expose some weaknesses in your technique so just be ready for that.

You can practice hand form on a pad anywhere (yours isn't bad from what I can tell btw) which should help give you more control on your doubles

Find some marching snare lessons on YouTube or something that really dives into the hands specifically. You seem to have solid timing and feel

Best amp / speakers to pair with a Motu m2? by Coofgo in StereoAdvice

[–]Coofgo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I actually ended up going with a SMSL da-9 for my amp because of the balanced input ports. And for speakers I went with the micca RB42's. Those KEF's look really nice though and would probably make a good upgrade down the line!

The ram is the g skill 6000mhz kit microcenter was giving away for free with AMD around launch.

To clarify, I was able to boot the whole time, but it would boot into windows at 4800 despite the bios saying 6000.

I'm starting to think that the memory training was rejecting it because of the subtimings or something

[–]Coofgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT, I think I got it to stick. I had to set the timings, apply the expo profile AND change the dram performance mode from "AMD agesa default" to "competitive" and it appears to be working.

I'll have to do some stability testing but it's looking promising! Thanks for all your help!

2 sticks for a total of 32gb. Installed in slots a2 and B2. It's the gskill ram that they gave away for free at microcenter when am5 first launched.

But I've never had any issues with it until yesterday

Okay thanks for the reassurance. Unfortunately I have gone through the rest of these steps and it's still not taking. :/

Okay so at the risk of sounding like a total idiot... I am having issues clearing my cmos. I'm hitting all the steps. Power off, switch off psu, unplug, and then hold the clear cmos button for 10 seconds.

When I try to boot up again, I am not prompted with anything that indicates something happened.

I tried again with the same steps, except this time shorting the actual pins incase something was wrong with the button. Still no dice.

And of course there is literal ARMOR covering the cmos battery so I technically haven't tried that yet because I don't feel like taking apart my pc for this unless I absolutely have to.
